Best £500 37" TV
Discussion
It's as simple as it sounds. Need a new TV and a 37" set would be ideal for the space, but there seems to be less choice. Plasma VS LED and 720p vs 1080p seem to be the main questions. Don't know much about brands other than what I've read.

This seems like a reasonable deal, but would I regret 720 in the future once I have a Bluray player?
As you can see I'm rather lacking in knowledge, so any help much appreciated.

In a word, yes, you can see the difference and would regret it. With your budget you can get some pretty good 1080p's. I have a Samsung Le40C530 because of some good reviews and I think its great. The Le37B550 gets 5 stars from whatHiFi so may be worth a look (a little older now so some bargains about). Both within budget.
I thought I might, but I'm worried I'll hate the lack of decent blacks/ viewing angle that seems common on LCDs I've seen. 40" would probably be ok too.

I like this, looks quite well specced and I like Panasonic, but are their LCDs any good?

have to add I bought a 1080p Toshiba about a year ago (model number I forget, but wasn't anything special but had good reviews) 37" and an Amazon 'warehouse' return deal. TV turned up in original box and wasn't a mark on the box so god knows why they refused it. Plays HD in fantastic quality both on Virgin and off my PC. and the cost? £275
I honestly don't think you'd get much more difference without spending big bucks, same with makes, Panasonic and sony are generaly rated as the better but even some of their TV's get a slating and Samsung/LG/Tosh are sometimes just as good if not better. just find a good deals and make sure the reviews are good.

Philips 37PFL7605 Ambilight Spectraflair Hayabusa, lots of hertz and stuff, built properly (i.e. using bits of metal rather than resins that would embarrass an edition of 'Ker-Plunk' c.1977,) all replete with a manufacturer 5 year warranty and generally capable of rendering filums like Zulu when reprised in all their full, high def glory, eye popping.
Only equalled by Panasonic's 37DT30 which is roughly twice as much.
Feel free to 'PM' wor.

euro eccentricity factor, surprisingly intuitive!!!
Wtf!!!Had chance to work with a 42" 2010 version of the philips still a bloody hateful user interface. What sort of system places any new channel stored automatically in the 400's! and then hide any the controls to move it in a totally different location and sub menu.
Hateful system.
