Alfa Mito Multiair
Discussion
I test drove one a while ago and found them to be a real hoon, steering was a little artificial felt a bit like and arcade game with sport setting but it was a nice place to sit and it handled pretty well as I recall.
Quite a revvy engine too and felt like a bigger engine and sounds throaty but its no V8.
In the end the looks put me off, one day I liked them, the next day I didn't and I still can't make my mind up to this day - odd really.

Dreadful" little things, so ugly and out of proportion, a true example of a designer, being given a floorpan, and being told to, "build something on that....oh and put the corporate grill on it to finish it off".
Now the Gullietta......a totally different kettle of attractive fish.
How does it drive? Now the Gullietta......a totally different kettle of attractive fish.
If rear space is a priority I'd avoid them, I was in the back of one not long ago and was constantly hitting my head on the roof and was generally very cramped - and I'm no giant - just a meagre 5'8" midget!
The same one also had a few issues with build quality - The clearcoat on the paintwork was coming off in big flakes, there were a LOT of interior rattles (And this was a 2 week old car with 600 miles on it) and the sound system was dire (A lot of crackling, particularly over bumps). The 'DNA' thingy also seemed to only work intermittently.
I don't know if this was a 'Friday Afternoon' car or typical of the Mito but I was left very underwhelmed following a 30 minute stint in one (And I've had two French cars!)

Had mine a few months now & love it.
Was looking for a small automatic & didn't like the look of most that are on the market.
The DNA switch is fun, takes it from docile city car to fun little car, add in the TCT box in manual and it's a blast.
Yes there is a few rattles and I struggle to get any where the stated mpg figures(changing driving style may help) but insurance for me was a lot lot cheaper than a 7 yr old Mini Cooper auto & road tax is £0 for yr 1 and £95 after that.
Blue&Me stereo works great for iPhone , though the voice control is a bit hit and miss. Could be my accent though.

OK, I imagine, like any small euro hatch, Fiat 500, Fiesta, Punto...etc. Just lets not play the, "it's an Alfa" card. It's one of the many versions of, the "family white loaf" of motoring.
I believe MGZRod was alluding to you not knowing the answer. It seems he was right. Lovely engine - way more grunty than it should be but doesn't feel like it wants to rev too much. We've got the cloverleaf though so it may be different. Fuel economy figure is a complete lie though, I got 35.6mpg over 14000 miles (and that's not me being an uneconomical driver, I get 29.2mpg over about the same distance from my d5 xc90 auto)
Build quality isn't bad, blue & me works well, stereo is ok, interior generally nice enough place to be. I'm a 6 footer and can be in the back for a couple of hours without too much difficulty.
watch out for service costs though, £371 for first year service

In the course of selling them, I'm currently running my sixth. The 135 Multi-Air is a jewel with bags of low down torque and all the power you're ever likely to need from a car at this size and price. My current one is a TCT with a high mpg of 47.8 and a low (so far) of 29.9.
How anyone gets to charge £371 for a first service is a bit of a mystery.
The scheduled time is 1 hour 45 minutes and they only hold 2.75 litres of oil.
I'm 5'11" tall and heavy, but I fit in the back seats fine.
The technological content is a step above the rest of what's out there for this kind of money, and they score high marks in NCAP too.
Go test drive one and judge for yourself. Personal experience of a MiTo will certainly put you into the minority on here judging by some of the posts.

Had my QV for a year now and I love it. Alfa's fuel consumption figures are way out ( I'm averaging around 33mpg) but then it is always in D
The steering can take some getting used to but do bear in mind that MiTos built from March 2011 have had changes made to improve both the steering and suspension.
The only mechanical fault I've had is an alternator that packed up at 6 months and I've not had any problems with the paintwork either. The build quality is fine, I have the odd rattle but nothing too major and it's certainly no worse than other cars I've owned in the past.
Everyone (with the exception of Mrs C) who has been in it really likes it - my 12yo niece isn't into cars at all but she was hooting with laughter when I took her out in it and booted it on the dual carriageway.
Have a look at AlfaOwner.com - there's a lot of info about the MiTo on there, just be aware that there are many topics relating to problems, but that is common to many marque forums.
