Sorry me again - mirror electrical help required

Hi chaps,

Thanks for all of the advice on the mirror musrhoom (I managed to get a new one ordered and fitted before the post died!) a little tip that may help others, to tighten the grub screw I cut a 5mm length of hex bar (A#se end of an allen key) to fit and used a really small spanner to turn it, if you swing the mirror out of the way you can get a decent turn with a short spanner.

However, having spent the last two days on the electrical side I am after a little help / advice in trying to get the electrical mirrors working.

I have been using the diagram on page 280 of the bible and have manged to track down a few faults.
1) at some point the wrong relay had been fitted (a two pole switch rather than a switchover relay)
2) the mirror change over switch is a bit dodgy
3) the live wire in (green) shorts to earth! when the earthing system is connected up, it looks like someone has had to run a new earth wire to the cigarette lighter to make that work.
4) I think I have a major problem with the joystick

My questions are around points 3 and 4,

Does anyone have any idea where the green wire comes from, do I really have to take the fuse pannel out to find it, the wiring diagram has no positional number as to which fuse it should be connected to. I reallise it is a bodge but I am tempted to put a fused spur to the cigarette lighter power supply. Also where does the Blue/orange (mirror heater wire) get its power from?

When I have tested the joystick operation I have found that the purple wire (which switches the relay, also shorts to the Black/red (on left, right and down)and Red/green (on left, right and up) with the effect of shorting the power to earth before it even gets to the motor. If my understanding of the circuitry is correct there should be no case where this could happen. Can anyone confirm / test their own switch.

If this is the problem, any ideas where I can get a new joystyick and switch from?
