I've been thinking about this for a while now.

I'm considering selling my Panerai PAM111 as it hasn't been getting much wrist time lately. As a replacement I am looking to scratch the Stowa MO itch that I've had for quite a while, banking a bit of cash for now ( I know, far too sensible !! ) and maybe adding something else to my collection later in the year.

My question, to those who have a Stowa MO or have had the pleasure of seeing one in the flesh, is how will it compare quality / feel / weight wise and will it live up to my expectations ?

I realise it won't wear quite as big on my wrist (albeit not a small watch according to the dimensions), but that will be a good thing as the Pam isn't being worn much due to it feeling very big under a shirt cuff. I am just concerned that the Stowa will feel a bit 'light' if you see where I'm coming from.

So, not that I need convincing as my mind has been made up pretty much, will I be disappointed with the Stowa after the Panerai, also apart from on PH classifieds where are the best places to advertise the Pam ? (Bearing in mind my post count isnt what it needs to be on TZ).

Any nice tempting pictures of MO's are quite welcome too just to confirm my need for one wink

I havent owned a PAM so I am not sure I can directly answer the question.

I do however own a Stowa MO, and heres a couple of poor quality photos for which apologies!

This is a watch I really like. It wears big (as you say not PAM size but for something that is pretty dressy, its substantial). My other daily wearer is a Breitling Navitimer - it doesnt have much less of a wrist presence than that (imho anyway).

Very clear face, the crystal caseback shows the wonderful movement which is great to behold.

You can wear this with anything - suit or jeans - and it looks the part.

My only gripe is the lack of a date. When I bought this the Stowa Auto wasnt around - if I was going to buy one now I'd think seriously about whether I need a date.

My other watches are auto's - this one is a hand wind, but thats never been a problem.

I dont think you'll regret going down this route!

Edited to add I am not sure where else you could advertise it. I guess in the classifieds here, possibly Watchuseek if you dont mind an international sale, or maybe somewhere like chrono24. Good luck.

Hi Nick, they are lovely looking pieces smile It would be the manual wind for me, not too concerned about winding up my watches - the Pam is a manual wind after all and also has no date.

Time to decide on a price and put an ad together I think.
Would still be interested to hear from anyone who has experienced both MO and Pam, I've never bought a watch having not tried it on or even seen one in the flesh before so this is going to be a daunting process !!

GLWTS!

One other comment. I understand your nervousness around buying something without trying it on. This was the first watch I bought with out trying it on, luckily it panned out ok.

However, the Stowa MO's seem to sell quickly so if you need to flip it you should be ok.

Nice watch the Stowa MO

Wears quite big, but not heavy. Nor do they feel particularly robust.

Nick, GLWTS ?? confused ??

Andy, not robust as in 'cheap' feeling or just quite light weight ? How do they compare to say a Sub (probably an unfair comparison) or even an Omega Aqua Terra Seamaster on a leather strap on your wrist regards knowing they
are there ? I had a Railmaster Chrono on a croc strap until about a year ago
which felt quite solid, but certainly not
heavy on the wrist. Is this a fair comparison ? Not expecting it to be Pam type heavy but not really a fan of light weight watches.

Eta, am I expecting too much from a £900 watch ? (as it would be to the spec I want).

Anyway, back to the MO. Is it a particularly light weight watch, or does it have a bit of weight to it ?
