I Take it the Steering boss is just held on by the single bolt under the horn button. I just had the Steering Rack shaft seal replaced and the steering wheel`s a couple of notches over the the Right. The reason I ask is I can't be bothered to loosen the UJ joints and I can't shift the wheel AT ALL!!!. Well and truly solid.

Thanks
Darren

It takes a lot of effort. Undo the nut but leave it attached so that it stops the wheel knocking you unconcious. Sit in the driving seat, grab the wheel and rock it hard while pulling hard. Eventually it will release. Undo nut and the wheel is off. If the nut is removed it will come loose very quick (tapered shaft) and has been known for the mechanic to knock themselves out.

Ah, that brings back memories - I recall all too clearly when my Mk1 Escort steering wheel eventually came off. Ouch.

Cheers all, will try. Good idea to leave the nut on.
