Thought I'd post up a few pics of my tree lupin (lupinus arboreus) which is looking pretty good at the moment. I grew it from a cutting about 18 months ago - it was only about 6 inches tall in the pot. I looked after it through the winter and planted it in my garden last spring. Here is the result!

To be honest I didn't think it was going to grow this big! It's about 5ft tall and well over 6ft in diameter - it tends to dominate everything around it, but I would highly recommend one for any medium to large sized garden, the bees absolutely love it and the scent is gorgeous.

A close up of the bloom. They are mostly white with just a delicate tinge of purple.

Is that tall purple plant sticking out the top part of it, or is it "just" the lower bushy part?

Either way, I'm amazed at the speed of growth in 18 months!!

No the tall purple plant is an Echium (it seeded itself there). The tree lupin grows quick, but not that quick!!

So that Lupin is from one cutting? All those branches and stalks etc go back to a single "trunk"? And it only took 18 months to get like that?! Thats amazing. I might get some of that, it obviously doesn't take long to get results!

Quick update - she's still going strong! Loads of blooms but probably just past its best. Has given us a lot of pleasure. Here's a few pics of other plants enjoying the early summer warmth. smile
