what to see in crete?

I'm off to Stalis in crete on Thursday, been to the hotel before which is superb and good value for money if anyone is thinking of going (hotel Anastasia) but we didn't really see any more of the island last time, this time we want to get a car and explore a bit, anyone got any recommendations?

Been many, many years since I was there - but I'd recommend the Gorge of Samaria

Knossos is an obvious one.

Golden Eagle spotting might be your thing...

Go up into the mountains late afternoon and watch and listen to the eagles hunting ...... awesome ... especially when they fly overhead about 10 feet above you
