Saw this on Ebay, would this be in anyway drivable ? been in a 200 plus bhp Westfield as a passenger and that was seriously rapid, am I right in thinking a mega powered turbo engine with loads of torque would be a recipe for terror/facing the way you came in something so light ?

I built a Dax Rush.. The lightweight bike engined chassis.. 185hp Hayabusa powered and it was 480kg with a full tank of fuel.
Even with R888's it was lethal until you got heat into the tyres! Very quick once the tyres had warmed up though.
even still looks like a fun project
Personally I think putting a turbo in a car that light is just ridiculous, money is better off spent with 250bhp a naturally aspirated engine.
I really dont understand it, why the horrible rear wing, the horrible paint job, bottle of Nos?
Infact I wouldnt even get in the car, dont know about the workman ship but sounds like someone has more money then sense.

700kg is extremely lardy for a seven inspired car anyway - not surprising as the YB engine weighs a ridiculous amount itself.

Don't you think perhaps the point of this project was to build a car with monster acceleration first and handling somewhere about 15th? Yes, I understand that, but in reality you wouldn't be able to put it down, I would imagine a 600 bhp one wouldnt be any quicker than a 300 bhp one (possibly slower due to modulating the throttle to avoid death and changing pants), just would involve more smoke and involvement with the scenery, even big, heavy cars with that kind of power are a massive handful without any electronic intervention, I would imagine you could only use about a quarter throttle before the rear starts getting frisky, don't get me wrong, I love the idea, not sure about the practice though !Edited by J4CKO on Sunday 1st May 23:45

Totally agreed there - I doubt there is enough weight in the car to get anything but mental wheelspin unless you were running some sticky-compounded slicks, which is obviously not ideal (or even legal) for the road. That said, there will always be people chasing dreams - be it in development facilities worth millions or in their sheds. This is definitely the latter. Massive bragging rights, but in practice I think even something with a third of the power and twice the weight (Clio 182?) could see it off on a real road. Coming onto a long straight, coming on boost from a flying start the rocket-car might find the grip it needs and would go absolutely bolting past, but that kind of power would see anyone less than suicidal being very careful through the corners indeed, where any balanced car would see it right off.Edited by J4CKO on Sunday 1st May 23:45
