Just looking around to buy my next batch and I spotted this stuff, Carlube Formula One 20W50 Engine Oil (4.55 Litre), their speil says "Carlube Motor Oil is recommended and approved by Morgan, TVR and Lotus cars."

Any truth in this?

My owners handbook states 15W50 - (420), is there different viscosity between the various models?

Yeah have done...,

So - no-one knows if either TVR, Lotus or Morgan have approved this oil.

Yes I am aware there are better oils around but I tend to change often and buy cheap, which works for me.

Fire off an e-mail to Lotus & Morgan and see what they have to say.

Hi Adam
What oil do you put in the SX,
Richard Thorpe recomends I use Castrol GTX semi/synth 10/40
Jasper G uses Mobil 1 10/40 full synth I think,
Neither of which I can get here so I'm emailing the oil companies to find out there Australian equivilant....

Well I have been using 20W/50 mainly from Unipart as it's good, and cheap, so I change it every 3000. However the price has risen over the years from £4.50/gal to £15, so I thought I'd look around.

10W/40 seems a bit thin for my money.

Agreed - 20/50 used to be cheap as chips but I guess its down to supply and demand - its not always easy to find now. I'm also currently on 20/50 Unipart although just bought some Comma oil from local petrol station, £12.99 for 4.5 litres for topping up (sneaky buggers not 5 litres).

TVR endorsed Carlube when Carlube sponsored the Tuscan challenge.

It was suggested at the time that TVR would endorse Spry Crisp and Dry if the money was right. wink

OK so that explains the TVR link, I may have to post on the (Chesty) Morgan and Lotus (position) forums to find out the other connections.

Yeah - Spry was cheap as chips too ;^)

Stolen from General

probably more for the older cars especially the RV8 engines, but ECP have got 30% off service items when you use the code SERVICE30 at the checkout. best of all they stock Valvoline VR1 racing oil which is widely recommended. I have just bought 10L of oil and 2 bosch filters for £46!!

Seriously just buy this stuff! there was a thread recently which recommended this or millers as it still has a certain addictive in which is what the RV8 needs and at this price its a bargain!
