I thought that too. Rag it and scrap it if it's no good.
No pics yet as I will be collecting later in the week, but so far:
GOOD
Hood/window, stainless exhaust, wheels OK, engine runs fine, interior needs a vac but otherwise original and tidy.
BAD
Paintwork badly faded, front wing rusty and n/s door rusty, and had a sill patch. I know the last one strikes horror in the hearts of mortal MX5 owners but the thing is only costing a few hundred quid and I can probably redo it myself if I need to, despite my pigeon-s
t welding.
Problem is, I've already started pricing up coilovers and new wings/door. Can't wait to get started!

Some more pics from the advert:

So far I have tracked down a nice red passenger door to replace the rusty one, and a mint black wing to replace the o/s one - will get this painted soon. Also, Lexus lights are off and originals back in their place. Whole lot was £90 from a breaker in Newcastle. I've also spent a fortune on paint and prep materials - boot lid is currently in primer after my attempts to remove sanding marks from a previous dodgy respray on the lid failed miserably. Hoping to get it painted this weekend.

Just incase you didn't know the jack should go under tha carpet on the left of the boot. Should be a "skewer" that has a thread on the end to keep it in place.
Thanks, didn't know that. I've only driven it home and then got cracking on the bodywork - too embarassed to drive a matte white/pink car! I'm sure someone shouted "poof!" as they drove past me at some traffic lights
Today's antics...
Swapped rusty old door for a rust-free second hand one, which I Waxoyled inside before putting all the window and locking components on. I have also taken the mint black wing, rubbed it down, and got it to the first topcoat stage. Just run out of paint now, with more coming on Monday afternoon. Couldn't believe how easy it was to swap the door, especially the door pin - on Mk2 Escorts it would take at least 2 hours of swearing and cut hands to get a pin out.
Tomorrow, weather permitting, I am going to tackle grinding back the welds on the sill repair the previous owner had done, and get that area into primer ready for paint. If I'm not too knackered after today I will also give the freshly sprayed bootlid a rub back and see if I can get it polished up.
Oh, and I did >100 miles in it today, all trouble free. Much fun!
