Le Creuset (spelling?!!). My parents were given a set for their wedding (almost 35 years ago) and they are all still in one piece, still look fresh and new (although the colour is a little dated now, orange!). i believe they have branched out from their trademark '70's brown' colour now and do a variety - definitely worth looking at!

if you want stainless steel/non-stick, that Jamie Oliver nobber does some pretty good ones. Me and Mrs T bought a pan about 2 years ago and it cleans perfectly everytime and has retained it's non-stickiness.

We had Le Creuset (orange!) but they scuffed the new ceramic hob, so Joliver's Tefal pans replaced them.
I still have the Le Creuset's if you want them?

Circulon pans are really good and there is usually money off them in Debenhams etc.

What he said^^^
analon or circulon will last forever. Best purchase we ever made (aside from global knives).

thanks all for the ideas, had a quick look at the Debenham's link and it does not say they are suitable for an induction hob?

If it's iron or stainless steel it will work. If a magnet sticks to it it will work. But aluminium, nope.
