My 1 month free trial is almost up, so I might purchase the xbox live 12 month + 800 ms points from amazon. Is that enough to change my gamertag?

I think it's 800 points to change the name.

I assume you have loads of hard earned game saves that you want to keep? Otherwise why not just create a complete new Xbox Live GT for free?

I thought if your going from silver to gold, you may not have to change your GT if it does not exist already ?

It's 800 points but if you are going from a trial then onto a paid subscription then there will be no point. It is already free and therefore you are keeping it!

If I remember correctly you are allowed 1 free GT change, subsequent ones are then charged.

So I only need to buy my 12 month gold subscription then and I can change it?

I think what everyone meant was...start a new account with the gold subscription (if its from a Xbox Live card) and give yourself a new name that way.

Are you trying to keep the old account you started the trial with for some reason?
You need to tell us a bit more about why you want to do what you are trying to do.

Sorry yes I am trying to keep the account I have. Ive nearly prestiged on COD and Ive got a few achievements I would like to keep. I just ordered a 12 month subscription from amazon and it comes with 800 ms points so I should be good to go. Thanks guys.
