A friend is having his 40th in Lincoln town centre in July. I would love a recommendation of a fairly central hotel or decent b&b for 2 nights, parking is a must and I am not sure about on street parking?

My wife has a £150 gift voucher (in cash!) from work for doing good deeds for charity, and the price is irrelevant we just fancy something relaxing whilst away from the sprogs.

Depends where exactly you want to be, but there are some nice places to stay at the top of 'steep hill' near the castle/cathedral area... The White Hart is one, I've stayed there for my cousins wedding last year, was nice but to be fair I was pretty well gone by the time I retired to the room! Lots of decent pubs (one of my favourites is the Widow Cullens Well, 100yrds down the hill from the top, on the right) and little cafes/restaurants, historic bits and bobs around the castle/bailgate area too.

Just remember, to start at the top of the hill and end up at the bottom as the night goes on (and get a taxi back up! - the steep hill is no lie!

I've stayed here before - right next to the cathedral, and most def. at the top of the hill (steep isn't a strong enough word for that hill!)

The Lincoln is where I started my search but its a bit too steep with parking for 2 nights b&b £250.

:O How much?!? I was on business so must have had a "good" rate - no way my company would pay anywhere near that for a hotel outside London... I know others from work have stayed at White Hart with no complaints. If you're looking for places to eat around there, you def. won't be stuck!

The White Hart is £130 per night! Might just stay in the Premier Inn, we will be out quite a bit of the time anyway.

Have stayed in The Lincoln and The White Hart in the last few months. Both were fine, food very good in The Lincoln, it also has a decent secure car park. The Castle may be a bit cheaper, I have also stayed there, the rooms are a bit dated but the food was good. Last time I stayed there it was actually cheaper than The Holiday Inn Express.
