I have an oem BMW strut brace in my garage that I still have to fit on my Z4M (roadster). Are there any downsides on fitting a strut brace? Let's say for instance someone crashes into the left front side of your car. Will a strut brace transfer the impact to the other side of the car and also damage the right suspension?

Maybe, but damage limitation in the instance of a particular type of accident isnt a reason to leave it off.

Should it be a noticeable improvement?

Is this for real?

Just fit the bloody thing.

Main disadvantage is that it gives you AIDs.

Much of that will depend on how receptive you are to the nuances of the feedback that your car provides you through the controls and seat.

Since your first post expressed a concern with regards to a damage in the event of a possible collision, how about thinking of it this way .... If the car was designed to have it fitted, and it isn't fitted. Maybe over a long period of time, it could be possible for the extra movement from not having it, to result in fatigue induced cracks/splits/failures in the shell or suspension pickups.

Highly unlikely, but still possible.

Just fit it!

Doesn't the Z4M have a strut brace as standard?

In that case the biggest downside will be that you need to tell your insurance you've modified your car...

It was easy to install, although it will require a wheel alignment because you are unscrewing the strut bolts.

confused I don't think so. I have yet to see a BMW that has camber adjustment from the strut topmount to turret bolts, but am happy to be corrected on this one.

+1 you don't need geo. Just be careful once you have removed the bolts not to knock the car/struts.
