Dear All,

At a PH meet yesterday i found myself in the unlikely position of Cerbera Salesman. There was a chap there who is in the enviable position of being ready to purchase his first 2nd hand Tiv and he had yet to be convined of the model to go for. He came to have a look at the Tivs on show - x2 griffs, my Cerb, x1 Tuscan and x1 Chim.

I certianly did my bit for the Cerb but by the end of the day i think he was about to plump for a Griffith (helped i think by the glorious sunny day and the open top motoring).

So, bearing in mind all Tivs are wonderful, what made us plump for the Cerb over other models? And how would we convince others to do the same?

Clarkson video my brother got for Christmas one year. 4.2 (allegedly, although if you search the threads here consensus seems to be it was something other than the norm) Cerbera, straight-line sprint, beat all contenders. Hooked on it ever since.

Clarkson video

Same here, final clincher.
Always loved them, but always thought they were out of reach having not looked at prices.

Shocked at the low prices after seeing the video, so I decided to buy one in 12 months.

It took a lot less than 12 weeks!

I needed a 2+2 having a young daughter, but I also prefer closed cabin cars.

As for persuading someone to buy a Cerbera? How about a shot gun?
Seriously, it's personal taste and needs. The cars sell themselves most of the time.

I suppose No 1 was the fact that even among TVR's you don't see many of them on the road - I wanted something that was different and boy did I get it. Also looks like sex on wheels - a really beautiful shape, makes me smile every time I look at it, especially with the headlight conversion courtesy of TVR Bodyshop in Bristol - lovely job boys thank you. Would recommend them to anyone.

Why I bought a cerb instead of a tuscan, grif, chim etc - simple its a 2 plus 2 - I can't be that selfish that I leave my kids at home!

With kids there are very few other 2 plus 2's that are fun to drive. Done the TT thing, Evo thing, now the tiv thing.

Should I ever try the M3 thing or the 911 thing?

Got bored being passed on track days and struggling to get back on the racing line. Wanted the security of a closed vehicle, the strength of the incorporated cage, the performance of course and oh yes the 2+2 to convince Mrs Wilson that it is a family car. I can squeeze in the family, I told the boys 5ft 10ins and 6 foot that they must not complain when mother is in the car!!!

M3 thingie.... Never trust a company whose idea of Intelligent Driving is based on a Donkey/Ostrich in an advert.

911 thingie... Never trust a company that still thinks the best place for an engine is behind the rear wheels.

Cerberas... out handle, brake, accelerate any V8 TVR. Also have the luxury of a full cage and somewhere to store the crash hat. Described by other half as "something evil sitting on the drive". Need I say more?

Err, actually a PH'er close to the factory (Roop IIRC?) said that it merely had a decat - which does ef'all for power generally. It was an early 4.2 though, so one of the quicker cars with the old clatter cams.

They are faster than all the cars in that vid up to a point, provided it could get a decent launch off the line. Nothing suprising about the outcome tbh, but in most normal drivers hands the 993 Turbo probably would have stayed ahead from the start (4wd/aerodynamics/408bhp - but quite heavy compared to a cerb.)

350bhp-360bhp and 1100-1200kilos, dont underestimate just how quick a standard V8 Cerbera is. Red Roses simply move the game on to Murcielago levels of performance...

That's it in a nutshell for us really.

Ray had always wanted a TVR.......at the time the Cerb was the fastest......so that was the one.

Some may say the 4.5 Cerb (apart from the Typhon) is still the fastest...depends a lot on the driver I think!!!

I am about to start looking seriously for my first TVR. I like the Tuscan, but have always loved the Cerb. It just looks (as someone said up there ^) pure
The clincher was the 2+2 config over the drop top 2 seater.

[sigh]... It's only a matter of time before you all come over to the dark side.

Tusc is currently having it's first trip to the garage for engine work...

Made it over for 8pm. Loads of crappy traffic on the M62 'cos of some burnt out camper van blocking the motorway for ages. Certainly stretched the old girl's legs on the M1, etc. tho. And after 15 minutes sat behind 'Bert, I want my car to sound like his.
