Might treat myself in a few months and move up to Cokin X-Pro (from P?). But I've read about Lee - do they make an equivalent or do their filters fit the X-Pro frame?
And also, why is there a huge differential in prices - eg the adapter ring for say 77mm in P is 12quid and X-Pro is 40quid! Thread is the same, so it's just an extra wide rim for 30quid more!
Is that right?

Lee's normal filters and Cokin's Z-Pro filters are 100mm wide (P series are 85mm wide). I think this is the more popular size and with an appropriate holder is large enough for most wide lenses.
Cokin's X-Pro are 130mm. Lee make a selection of filters in this size (but no holder of their own), plus I think you can special-order others.
As for why the hardware is disproportionately more expensive for the larger sizes, I'm not sure. People are obviously willing to pay it though; Lee can't make their products fast enough to keep up with demand.

If you're talking about whether it'll vignette, it's not just the size of the filters, it's about how far in front of the lens the holder sticks out. You can get special wide-angle adapters that get the holder as close to the front of the lens as possible and holders that reverse or have removable slots so that nothing protrudes in front of the foremost filter. As well as Cokin and Lee, Formatt also make 100mm filters and holders.

A friend has noted that blutac might get me round the holder with normal grad ND8 problem. But it would be nice to get a polariser in play as well.
Was wondering if I could put an adapter ring 77-82mm on and get a larger polariser, but it's not enough to clear the vignette either.
Go with Lee, glass vs plastic... id pick glass... real ND vs gray... id pick real ND... that's just me though. In the defense of anybody who has either of these setups, I haven't/ don't plan on owning either of them (I own a cheaper cokin system) because of price vs how much ill use it.
