Hi,
Whats the typical oil PSI on a Ford Pinto 2litre? Or what does everyone elses run at?
I am at approx 90psi when running (?!), and water temp runs around 70-80degrees no issue.
It appears to have enough oil (shortend sump).
I'm getting cut out's when pulling up sharpley (roundabouts) and on a decline/incline it has cut out - I assumed it might of been my sloppy clutch control - only appears to happen in 3rd to 2nd and 2nd to 1st.
Thanks.

Hi
I would start with the simple things first such as fuel filter. Then I would take the fuel line off after the pump and turn it over (put it in a coke bottle) You should see if it is dribbling out or splashing out. If just a tiny dribble, change the filter defiantely and look for a blockage.
Cheers

You have nothing to worry about with those temp and oil pressure readings, ,sounds as if it.s properly sorted . Cutting out as posted may be your clutch control ,how long have you had the car ? another thought would be float level in the carb what carb/carbs are you using ?.I had afew probs on my 2.1 pinto after fitting a Weber 38DGAS setting the float hieghts cured it .HTH
Hi,
I have only had it a few days, however;
Took it out for a run today after it sitting cold for a few days. Started no problems and sat idling perfectly. Took it for a run for 30-45mins, no problems with it really, but i did have to keep my foot lightly on the throttle every now and then as i thought it sounded like it was about to stall.
Got back into the car park put it into neutral (to go into reverse), and it started to stall, kept the throttle on and managed to park it up, took it out of gear and took my foot off the throttle and it coughed, spluttered and finally cut out with an oil warning light.
Oil pressure didnt drop from 90PSI, water temp was 80-90 (typical running) and has enough fuel.
Waiting for it to cool and then will check the dipstick again.
It wasnt restarting just now, wasnt turning over, waiting for it to cool and will try and start it. Wasnt turning over properly - i think i flooded the engine.
Will look at the fuel filter and pump this weekend. It is running on webbers (not sure on brand, need to look), and has a Mega jolt 3d ecu.

The reason your oil pressure light has come on is because your engine has cut out...
Engines don't intermittently cut out due to oil starvation. If you run an engine without oil pressure, it will eventually seize and stay seized.
Intermittently cutting out sounds fuel related to me (though you can get it due poor electrical contacts/wiring connections, too).
If you're on twin Webers, first step would be to get them set up correctly by someone who knows what they're doing.
