Right....
Got my car for £500 with 74k on the clock and ran like a dreeeeaaaamm (for a 1.6):
This is how i got it, (minus the swallows and the smooth grille)
Then after leaning on the inside wheel arch in the boot, i soon found my hand falling through it:
£30 later to my mate:
What rust hole?
Then i want a wheel change for after buying a set of 205 gtis for £31.50 in total (bought 2 for £11.50 then another 2 for £20) i painted them white:
Which led to:
Then came the insertion of 1/2 leathers i picked up (on a hot day):
(swallows on because i hit a b.stard pothole and popped a tyre)
Then i decided to follow the trend and de-wiper:
Then came the spoiler stuck on with tiger seal:
Then came the dt/xsi rear bumper and re adjusting of 3" exit backbox which i got from a car boot.....£10!!!!
(work done at a mate house)
Then i spotted a DT bumper he had chucked in his hedge and went about spraying it in my make-shift spray booth:
Which eventually turned into this:
And then went about fitting it:
nice bent piece of frame there
Finished product:
Then i managed to buy some fogs which i black masked (looks over practicality i say)
And now im in the process of painting the hockey sticks which look faded.
Just a quick photo with fogs FINALLY working!:
(tbh they arnt as reflactive in real life, but the gloss black inserts do reflect some what)
CHEEEEERS!!!
Then managed to pick up some good condition skirts for £10:
(TEST FIT)
And had delivery of some morettes this morning:
Whys everything i get, god damn red!!??? Im spending more on paint than the actual parts i get!
Right, got the morretes all painted up and bought some new lenses from 'boltonbits' and some philips x-treme power bulbs:
Just need me car back from my mechanics now to fit 'em......
Well, got me morettes fitted finally (had to do a bit of slam panel cutting so could connect the sidelight bulb up)

Bought some wind defs' off Welsh ben. Was a bit sketchy having to bend them to get them in:
Then my Rossi stickers came from my mums friends website www.lapassione.co.uk:

Right, gave the car a quick clean today to see what the skirts would be like. Still not the best match but, they'll do.
Not sure if i want to paint the lower bit of the skirts black, like the ph1 skirts. Just thinking its too much white and doesnt follow the black part of the front bumper.

Bought some 266mm brake from scrap yard, all for £40
Brakes fully stripped (used a tyre pump to blow out the pistons) ready for new seals after xmas:

Had the inner morettes wired in today by my dads mate: 40amp relay='s
He's drawn out the wiring diagram for what he did so il draw it out and post it here.

The BIG Update!!!!:
bonnet patch attempt:
Gave the primer patch a sanding down to give it a skim over with filler, the rust has 'deformed' the metal around it making it pretty hard to get flat (tried hammering it down a bit but didnt make a difference):
Then after some sanding, i gave it a coat of white primer:
Then a good sanding with 1200 to get it really smooth for the top coat:
then was a bit too damp and dark to lacquer it, but i give the bonnet a good megs 3 step: cleaner, polish, wax.
Cant really notice if from a distance, but its not perfect up close

10:30am start. We unscrew all the plastic bolts etc. Then after seeing the TB's are just covered in rust, we (well, more craig) smacked the trailing arms off and did it the notch method. We went for 1 notch (or so we thought), put everything back on etc, then we just see the car slam to the floor......."thats 1 notch!!??". It was down about 60-70mm! (we thought the beam or something must be ****ed) So I asked if it could just go back to standard ride height (cheers craig). Eeeeeeverything back off again, so off came the tailing arms for round 2. But then we noticed we had missed a notch (doh) Then a couple hours later the front struts were complete!!!
(but just gotta sort my damn exhaust out, resting on the beam and the mid box is hitting the heat shield)
Just a lil' update:
Had delivered a gti6' (24mm) rear ARB this morning: (waiting on Pug to have the small yellow washers delivered aswell)
So along with the Gaz shocks (all getting fitted on saturday. Blaady 'mate' mechanics are hard to hold down to their words) It should be nice and stiff (oo'eer).
And this is how it sits atm:

Gaz shocks and ARB on.
Have the shocks on 10 clicks from softest (cheers Ripp) And the drive home was surprisingly quite smooth/soft tbh, which is a bonus. (thought it was all going to be rock solid)

Fogs fitted but the damn things dont work anymore!!, from unplugging them and replacing the lenses they dont want to play ball!!! Iv taken 'em all apart and cleaned all the contact areas but they just dont want to work anymore. Oh well.
Oh and I bought some pressed plates, AWWW YEEEAAHHHH:
So FRESH and so CLEAN!

I have working fogs!!!!
I'd forgotten to put the plastic clips over the 'live' connector of the bulb so was just shorting it self out.

Gorgeous mate, easily the nicest 5 door 306 Ive ever seen, the front end in particular is spot on love the morettes. I love the PH1's far too much, should have got rid of mine ages ago but I cant bring myself to do it. Some good performance mods too, and the speedlines were a great move.
What are the main plans for the future, GTi6 powah?
Not as a negative point against the car, but even though the solid axle on the back will take most of the brunt that areas still pretty structural and that welding could do with a refresh in my opinion too.
All the same, love it!

Jamin'- Depending on insurance prices me and my mate are thinking of putting a VTS engine in it. Mainly because its still a 1.6 so 'nicer' on insurance and about 120-130bhp so a nice 40 odd BHP gain for about a £150 engine. But who knows. This weekend I'll whip the trim off and see if the welded plate is still holding up
Yeah i know what you mean with the lower skirts, theres some original ph1 skirts that have the lower half painted black which will look better, they're on ebay but all the way down south.

Sounds good to me, know the internals of the TU5 better than I do my ex's, got 4 in the garage at the moment lol. Theyre so cheap now, picked a fully rebuilt one up for £130 a few months back. Easy power with a nice set of PH3's and a map and your sorted! Its a bit of a pig uprating a non GTi6 to 2.0l powah too isnt it? Had a look into it for a mate last year, seemed like an all suspension, new subframe job on top of all the loom work.

Soooo.......VTS engine going cheap then? *hint'hint nudge'nudge* (also what do you mean 'PH3s'? Not even going to thiiiiiink about 2L pooowwaaaah yet, just shaking already imagining what the insurance would be)Haha, may well be when your in need of one mate. At the moment though theyre all just bare blocks, some are missing bits too like valves or cam ladders, only two are complete and as yet I cant decide which route I want to take with em.
