Diamond Cut and polish or powdercoat for wheels?

Whats the popular view on this as im really unsure on which way to go with my old 8 spokes. I like them shiny and definately want to keep the black bits on the wheels (which appear to often be sprayed over)
Im currently thinking diamond cut is the way, but wouldnt mind some views on this.

watch this space. i have similar dilema and was talking to a chap (Adam, don't know his forum username) at North Notts Classic Car show over the w/e who thinks he may have the answer from a firm in Nottingham.
Possible chrome and black two colour powder coat. I never thought you could do 2 colour baking and was going for a shadow chrome paint finish next month but will wait until I see his results. this might be the future......

Diamond cut: Can keep the black bits but if relacquered there are issues over how long it will last. If not relacquered you will need to polish the wheels by hand to keep the shine and prevent damage from road/salt/brake dust muck
Powdercoat: Easy to maintain but, as you've said, the wheels end up totally silver which makes the spokes look to bulky (to me anyway) without the black bits
There is a 3rd option which I and a couple of others have gone for which I am delighted with because it has the advantages of both the above... paint. More info here -

Gents - thanks for your views, and the links. Its really helped me. My S is going for MOT on 14th May so dependant on what happens then ( I think the outriggers are OK having prodded about), will start on some of the proper "tarting up". I think my S is still too scabby to come to SCH 2011 albeit its never let me down and goes like the clappers - (I made the mistake of parking next to last years S2 winner making mine look even scabbier! (I was too embarrassed to even open the bonnet) Appreciate the advices and will get her back to her former youthful looks soon.

Just though you might find the attached of interest. I had diamond cut wheels, they had all deteriorated to differing degrees and it was very hard to keep polishing and then protecting them, especially as the car has to stay out, under a cover, during winter. The corrosion on the wheels was gradually getting worse and there was an unsightly scuff on one. I live quite close to Jimed (who has now moved on to a Griff 500) and I admired his S which had painted wheels. I decided to get mine powder coated.
After a bit of research I found a firm quite close to home (Preston). On contacting them I was surprised when the workshop manager immediately recognised the wheel. Turns out he used to be TVR's paint shop manager! A further member of staff is also ex TVR so we can be sure of a welcome there.
The firm is Wheel Repair Centre, Bamber Bridge, Preston.
I was impressed by the size of the unit, and the equipment they had.
My wheels were first bead blast cleaned to remove all lacquer, paint and corrosion, the damage was then made good. The wheels were then low heat baked for a couple of days to ensure there was no water trapped anywhere. They were then powder coated bright aluminium, after which the black was added and baked on. They then took a lot of care to refit the tyres without scratching the rims!
I am delighted by the result, they look close to original, all look the same, and cleaning is now a doddle!
We also took a set of 1968 Porsche steel chromed wheels to them. We had to get the damaged and blistered chrome removed elsewhere then they powdercoated in 'chrome'. The results are excellent.
If you decide to contact them, on 01772 627600, ask, believe it or not, for 'Gerbil'! (The nickname of the Ex TVR paint man!)
Take your TVR along there and he will advise you on the paint colour and type used.

this confirms what i was told at Thorseby then and will be the way i go.

I had some steel wheels on my Cortina Mk4 that I sprayed bright silver then painted in the black bits with humbrol enamel (is it still available?)
They looked great.
That pic reminded me of it.
