Has anybody used this as their primary insurance for the first week on an approved car?

The reason I ask is the guy who has bought my car won't be collecting it for a week after I collect my new car, so with the free insurance I can have both insured up until that point.

I assume it's comprehensive? Any limitations? High excess?

Thanks in advance.

That insurance is probably all tied in with the 7 days insurance offered by Hpi, limited to the person carrying out the check/name on invoice, fully comp with IIRC £1000 excess.

Yep its fully comp and yes your right you can have both cars covered then. They will explain the excess charges to you, practically every customer collecting their new and approved cars with me cover themselves on the 7 day policy.

The only limitation I found was the 30min wasted on the phone getting a yearly insurance quote from them in order to qualify for the free 7 day insurance. Icing on the cake was when they came back and quoted £2.2k.

Just arranged it an agree with the comment above, took about 15 minutes and the quote was double.

Excess is £500.

Wouldn't even cover me when I tried, too young for the insurance group!

Used it twice, but agree that the quotes to continue are off the scale uncompetative

It's ok, but excess is high and there's no legal cover included.

We have experience of claiming on it as we collected a nearly new BMW and it was rear ended 20 mins later, good part was the repair was all done at a BMW body shop, bad part was they were pretty hopeless to deal with on the phone.

We did it when we got our X3 in December and had no issues. It's a BMW product they they're trying to promote. Their quote for a year was a joke though.

Im almost 22 and they wouldn't insure me.........on an 07 118d M Sport. Bearing in mind I had use of a 60 plate 325d touring for a few months prior to this. Had to sort it on my own insurance policy.

I have used it for the last 2 cars, but only to avoid the whole insurance certificate pain to the new car taxed.

In parallel I change my normal insurance to the new car. In my experience the quote they provide for full 12 month insurance is almost always a bit of a joke in terms of cost.

If you treat as a way of taxing the car easily then I think it is a great idea.
