Fitted some rally mudflaps
Discussion
Thought I'd do a little tidying on the old girl ready for the show season. So the past 2 weeks have seen a brand new water pump to replace the leaky one. Seats have been out and re-fitted better. Drivers side window winder replaced.
Front windscreen scuttle repainted and a few minor areas of rust treated and sorted.
While doing the above some rally mud flaps also found their way onto the car...
An eBay buy, I thought I'd ordered red ones to match the paint. I hadn't as you can see they are black.
Quite easy to fit. Oh, and a new PH sticker seems to turn up at the house too, so thought I might as well use it too
Rears fitted:
All done and road tested:
Next up is to fit the polybush kit for rear then set about re doing the front suspension, it's a little soft at present. Also want/need a bigger rad too.

Thinking of getting some big mud flaps like these, can you recommend any sellers on eBay?
How did you fit them, just the usual little screw clamp things?
Very tidy car too
I just searched ebay for rally mud flap. Seem to be a lot of sellers. How did you fit them, just the usual little screw clamp things?

I got mine from here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&am...
If you want to compete in certain events then they need to be 4mm thick. If not then it doesn't matter.
As for fitting. Lots of options, most proper rally cars don't mount them in the arch, they mount them on the bodywork behind the arch. But it's a lot more fiddly and easy to make a mess of things.
You can use brackets like these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&am...
Bolt bracket to car and either bolt or cable tie the flap to it (cable tie is good as it'll break rather than bend stuff if it's ripped off).
For mine I just drilled some pilot holes in the inner wheel arch fold and used some stainless steel self tapping screws and some washers. I Waxoyled all in the arch as a precaution.
I also used some cable ties on the rear ones on the inside as there wasn't anywhere to directly screw them on to.
