yep, the inevitable happened today whilst changing a beer barrel in my cellar, i am gutted...caught the bezzel and now have a hairline scratch between the 50 and the dot.

I know that wearing a sub for everyday bimbling is a tad OTT but I do like it and enjoy wearing it.

Sooo, maybe it's time for another purchase...in true PH fashion an everyday 'snotter' come 'smoker' designed to withstand the foibles of wearing everyday and something that can withstand sea water and beer line cleaner etc.

thus far i have found these two candidates but know very little about either

Christopher Ward C60 Trident Auto

approx £335

STEINHART OCEAN 1 VINTAGE red

approx £300

i intend to fit a decent rubber 'Divers' band to whichever I deceide but would appreciate any imput from the PH massive. Also what else is out there other than Seiko's sub £500 of a similar style?

many thanks

If you're looking for an excuse to buy another watch, go ahead. I hear of an elderly diver who lurks in SW England who owns a Sub from the 1960s that is so battered it no longer has a bezel. He continues to wear it and dive with it. cool

I have a Steinhart Ocean. It's excellent, I would go with that. Bracelet is great to and personally I wouldn't swap it for a rubber strap. Mine gets worn lots and has picked up many swirls but I don't mind. In fact I just sold it to buy one brand new I like it so much.

No you haven't, you've personalised it! smile

I'd be happy with either, both have their following, though I think that the Steinhart would just about get the nod from me.

Just been browsing at steinhart's Ocean Forty-Four automatic, looks like a beast, and an unashamed copy of the SD Deep Sea. Am liking it a lot, maybe the ideal cheapo for Fishing and Diving etc.
Anyone have or had an O44?

I think you're crazy, just wear the Sub! It's designed to be tough & be used for diving. A ding here or there is fine!

Agreed. I think getting miffed over minor dings and marks on a tool watch is missing the point somewhat.

I do get your point fellas, but then if it did become all battle scarred I'd have to buy a new dress watch and the wifebeast evil wouldn't be a happy bunny wink

Exactly. This is not a problem, it's an opportunity.

...which got it from the American watch forums, like WatchUSeek, IIRC.
