I'm not actually doing an engine swap but it's probably the easies way for me to get the answer I need for what I am planning to do.

When you do an engine swap in a car and change the gear box too (say, putting an engine from a different manufacturer etc) how do most people go about dealing with the drive shafts?

Is it possible to cut and weld 2 different shafts together so that the joints on each end are different or do most people get whole new shafts made up from scratch?

Seriously don't try and weld a drive shaft. How do they connect, are they UJ's, CV's?

What car and engine is it?

Would usually have to be a custom jobby, as usually is the case when fitting an engine and box from a different manufacturer.

Usually they get cut and welded, go it right and it's fine, bevel the ends weld the channel and then sleave over the join and weld that as well, re balence and job jobbed.
