Quick question guys and I thought I'd trust PH more than Googling and trauling random money saving forums.

Can you pay a credit card off with another credit card that's 0% for X amount of months?

No, I'm not spiraling in to financial ruin, I'm a student who has a credit card that I can't pay off for 6 months or so. I can afford the interest per month but I could do with out it. So is this possible and is there anything I should be aware of when doing it?

Cheers thumbup

Interest free balance transfer would be better if the provider offers it..

You need one with 0% balance transfer.

Be careful to pay off the minimum each month though, or the 0% rate will be cancelled. Put aside a proportion of the full amount each month in a savings account and you'll have no problems.

Ok brilliant, thanks guys.

I usually set up a direct debit for the minimum payment if that's what you mean. I've got a terrible memory so that's really the only option for me unless I want a terrible credit history!

For a transfer you will expect to pay 3% of the amount transferred.

If you are very careful you could stop use the new card for normal purchases until you are up to the amount of your other balance, while using the cash you haven't then spent to pay off the the card, be very very careful though.
