Back in from a run this evening (90 minutes to get some tea-bags...) and turning the car round on the drive was producing some weird and loud noises; the sort of thing I've had in cars before when the steering pump fluid was low. Much groaning and subtle vibration, from the front of the car - sounds and feels as if it's coming from the steering rack, as the steering wheel is turned.

Checked the fluid level and it's absolutely fine - dead on the upper line on the dipstick like it always is.

So... do the pumps go bad? Would that cause this? Any other suggestions, or things to look for / at gratefully received...

Many TIA, Dave

Is this sound happening on full lock? May just be the wheels rubbing on the wheel arches.

Hi Dave , wonder if it could do with a fluid change ? After I replaced mine I noticed the steering was quieter !!
Failing that jak the front up and turn the steering by the wheels to see if it still does it .
As Hoyin suggest if it does it only on full lock it's normal . Tux
