Getting soft in my old age. I currently have 215/45 ZR18s on my Legacy, factory standard. I was considering going for a higher profile in the hope of a more comfortable ride. Thoughts?

I'm getting old too and have had similar thoughts in the past about mine too.

Then I give it a damn good thrashing and come to my senses. C'mon, you bought the Spec B rather than a cooking version for a reason! If you do change the tyres it's the start of a slippery slope. The next thing will be slip-on shoes and elastic-sided trousers...

Shouldn't be much trouble to chuck on 17"s from a different Legacy with whatever tyre size is equivalent.

I doubt you will lose anything in the handling department (just keep using decent tyres), the 18"s are more for looks than anything IMO.

Find someone with a 2.0 or 2.5 and swap wheels. I'm sure lots would love the 18"'s on their non-spec-B. Mind you if that is how you are felling, what do you feel about the fuel consumption? If you are not enjoying the car why keep it?
