Cosford Airshow 12th June
Discussion
It was a great show last year, i used to live in the next village and spent the day on my drive cleaning the cars and watching the airshow last year. The planes where turning between runs pretty much overhead.
As Eric said the attached air museum is pretty good. James Mays life size airfix kit was there for while as he made it there. Not sure if it still is though as it looked a bit weatherbeaten last time I was there

The Spitfire is still there.
I went last year , great show.
As far as i remember these displayed :
The Yakovlevs
The Blades
RAF Solo Hawk
Red Devils
Red Arrows
EF Typhoon
Tornado GR4
F-86 Sabre and Hawker Hunter
RN Black Cats
WW1 Bi-planes
BBMF
Harrier GR-9
Army Lynx and Apache
Chinook
List looks the same for this year so far. Hopefully XH558 will make it.
Get the train if you can , Cosford has a small two lane road to the main base. Tailbacks last year were horrific.
Also get there early. Base capacity is 50.000. Elf'n'safety turned away ticket holders in 2009.

Other than getting there early, are there any tips on where is best to watch from etc?
Thanks
Depends if you're bothered about watching/photographing. Photography is rubbish in the show due to shooting into the sun all day. Head out of the show and towards the cricket club for the sun behind you. Thanks

Can anybody point me toward some information regarding Saturday practice runs? Sure XH558 did it in 2009 the day before the airshow.
Any info about activity regarding air traffic at RAF Shawbury over the weekend would be great too.
Saturday is going to fairly quiet.Any info about activity regarding air traffic at RAF Shawbury over the weekend would be great too.
The Chinook is arriving, as are the JP's. The Black Cats also, and may do a practice demo. The Hawk may do a practice run. I'm not heading there on Saturday for the first time in a few years as it's so quiet.
Taken on Saturdays from previous years:
Harrier Landing
Vulcan Practice
Hurricane Low Pass
Gassing Station | Boats, Planes & Trains | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
