If I am on 30k a year gross salary and I got a 20% pay cut, would I be earning the same amount net as if I was working part time in a 30k pro rata job for a four day week?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, tax doesn't care how many hours or days you work for your 24k a year.

NI can be different though as it is calculated independently in each job. If the salary from your second job was below the NI thereshold i.e. less than £139 per week Gross (£7,225 per annum), you pay no NI on that second job.

I assumed the op meant each was just one job.

Northandy is definitely correct.

Income Tax is calculated on the amount you receive - not the hours you work (pretty basic stuff this - I have to say).

NI is also based on amounts, not hours.

As I pointed out in my original post, the main difference between the way income tax and NI is calculated is that Income Tax looks at all your income from all sources. NI just looks at the amount you receive on an employer by employer basis.
