Sorry all... another what car topic. £24k, no mods

First off, my bad for another one of these damn topics. I know they're everywhere on GG now.
Just bought my first house and decided that it's a bit pointless having a 120d and a VXT if I'm not going to travel much. I tend to cycle or jog to work and the car is left for one weekly shopping trip and a possible shakedown on the back roads over the weekend.
I was originally considering keeping the VX but it's a little hard to live with, purely in the sense that mine has a bypass valve which makes it a little too loud for the rainy/hung over days when I decide to drive to work and fire up the car at 6am - and also I'd like something with a few more creature comforts if it's my only car. I love the VX but it's not really a car you can run on it's own.
If I sell both cars privately I'm hoping to get around £24k overall. That's the budget I'm playing with - the small savings I've got will be going towards insurance. It's probably a good time to mention that I'm in my early 20s and insurance is still a significant burden - an Impreza STi for example will relieve me of around £4000 fully comp (which is why I sold my first one).
Currently, good options are found in a VXR8, M3 CSL, or surprisingly an Evo X. I know there's a lot more for the money available and so I ask you - any suggestions? Ignore the insurance crap for now, I'll see what quotes I can attain. A TVR Cerb 4.5RR's insurance came in at double the price of a T350.
MPG, servicing, looks etc isn't a concern for now. Only requirements are that there are as few mods as possible, and preferably something with a manufacturer's warranty (which surprisingly isn't as hard to find as I assumed).
Alternatively if anybody's in the market for a pampered 120d or VX220 Turbo then get in touch

i got mine back in january and still absolutely love it. Comfortable and has a little over 300bhp as standard (i know you say no mods but a tuning box can see near 400bhp for little cash). What is better is that the insurance costs are pennies, i'm 21 and pay less than £850 a year on a 22k car! so plenty less than scooby's/M3's etal.
There are plenty out there in the BMW AUC network as well as a few private cars with warranties so look around.

The M3 appears to stretch the budget slightly... how are Audi S5s? They seem to be a good compromise between imagine creature comforts and V8 mischief (with a 4WD buffer zone for ham-fisted drivers such as myself).
Thanks for the responses, though. I had no idea M3s were that cheap; and there's plenty of stuff to think about. Please don't mention a V12 DB7 or I'll hold you responsible for the inevitable repair bills
