SO2s to Toyos

Has anybody out there gone from SO2s to Toyos and if so what do you think thanks for any info Steve.

just (3 weeks) gone from SO1s to toyos...no worries so far, all fine and dandy.

I went this route and after driving with both on track there's not really much difference. I'd certainly recommend the Toyos, especially as I got mine fitted for £400 which seemed pretty reasonable.

General concensus seems to be Bridgestones over Toyos. Both in looks and operation. Some happy Toyo users also though.

As I drive at the speed of an ole slowen nowadays (yes I'm an old fogey) I think I'll shoe my pre-cat with toyo's. I certainly don't need to extract the last ounce of performance from griff, me or tyres.

I think Mrmaggit went from S02s to Toyos.

I havent heard anything bad about the change. Like Burriana says though, worth checking through a few threads to see other people opinions on the tyres.

I still think that the ones that slate the S03s are the same ones running around on the wrong pressures and possibly didnt put the heat cycles* trough them as mentioned in the bible.

*hard 20min drive and leave to cool for 4 hours a few times. Quite good fun really!
Alternatively gas mark 4 for 35mins. Turn once during cooking and serve with mash potatos and onion gravy.

I am in need of some new rubber soon and was chatting to my local tyre place about this. He reckoned that the toyo's would be a good tyre, very grippy, but the softer compound would result in me looking for a new set of rears every 6k of so. And reccommended that I went for the S03's as he thought that this should still be very good and that I would get a more miles out of them.

Anyone been getting through the toyo's qucker than they would normally expect?

I still have my S02s and noticed last night that the thread wear is 180 where as the tread wear on the S)3s is 220.
I have no idea what this number means but assume the S02s are of softer compound?

I assume this since the tread wear of my Michelin Energies is 400. (although they are the different silica material).

I went from S01's to Toyos, the ride is much more "supple", tyres grip fine for me, and stay straight when I light them up. Thanks for the suggestion, Dr. Joolz.

I'm due for new rears and toying with the idea of Toyos. Anyone have experience of Toyo rears and Bridgestone fronts (SO3), or is this mix a no-no?

Ive had Toyo rears and SO2 fronts for the lst 12 months with no problems. At the August TVRCC track day at Oulton Park, one of the instructors commented that he could tell the car was running on separate tyres (I could not feel anything?). On discussion he recommended the Toyo tyres over the SO2/3 combination. As the fronts are now due for replacement I will have two new front T-1-S tyres fitted this Friday.

I tried to purchase the 225/50/15 from Mytyres, but it seems they are not yet on board with that size.
