At my work a few rogue cars park in our plot and despite many notes left on screens these guys continue to defy our requests. We are a small business and sometimes our staff must park on a busy road instead of our own private carpark. What is best to do without having to go to great expence of gates? Clamping firm?

Block them in.
When they moan just tell them you don't know who the blocking car belongs to, say the owner parked there and walked off.
Make em wait a few hours.
Or, block em in and tell them your busy and they can wait for being cheeky bugger.
Make a hand made sign saying that you'll be blocking cars in too, least you'll have warned them then!

Only potential down side to this is that they probably work similar hours to you, so you might need to be prepared to lay on a lift home for guys who block anyone in.When they moan just tell them you don't know who the blocking car belongs to, say the owner parked there and walked off.

Car stuck at work all weekend would make sure I never parked there again.
Just move them, trolley jacks, whatever. Put them somewhere illegal, call the council to tow them. I'd happily do this.
I used to find my space parked in regularly, always just parked behind them so they had to come and find me - in a car park with 12 spaces for 100 companies, all allocated it could take them hours to find which office to go into

main one seems to have random movements..never seen him yet. Phoned police who cant remove unless been abandoned for several weeks. googled a clamping site who erect signs free and will come out when requested. Think will put new notes declaring this and then if no joy get the clampers signs up...and wait!
so long as the bays are clearly marked not for their use, if they continue to park there, have some large paper stickers made with terrible adhesive that comes off glass, but takes loads of time and effort that say in clear large text "please refrain from parking in bays that are clearly marked not for your use"
that should be legal and a reasonable enough thing to do? the 20 mins or so it will take them working away peeling bits of the sticker (which should be designed to be one of those really annoying-to-peel-off-ones-that-comes-apart-in-tiny-pieces-very-slowly types) should be enough to put them off doing it again.
people respond best if you're not hostile towards them, even if they're in the wrong. quickest/easiest/best result is probably to go a little out of your way to wait to catch the offender(s) in the act, and then just politely explain why they shouldn't be parking there. They should hopefully be reasonable, especially if you're polite/reasonable. If, face to face, they're ignorant/mad enough to raise some sort of pig headed unreasonable challenge, then complain to the place they're visiting or their workplace if they're working nearby.

And yes, I did see the car of an offender (who was a complete a
hole I should add) end up in the scrap bin via forklift truck

If you want to emply a clamping firm, get in quick, as clamping on private property is being made illegal in the Freedom Bill.It's still going through the House of Commons, and then through the House of Lords, so it will be a few months yet.
Is there two sides where you can attach a chain? Just chain the parking area or bays with some padlocks. Along with signs along the lines of private parking bays ect... Next time they offend simply note that there is on the street parking, which your employee's have had to use because of their ignorance, and if they wish to drive and park, either ask their own companies to pay for allocated spaces or park on the fecking street.
Do the rocket scientists saying "let their tyres down" not realise that the natural response will be to let YOUR tyres down?
One thing I have seen done in the past is a sticker on the windshield along the lines,
"You are parked on private property and details of your vehicle have been recorded. If you park here again the fee for parking will be the air in your tyres."
