Has anyone done the change out for solid lifters , it would be helpful to know how much it costs a set of solid lifters, a ser of new rockers maybe a set of push rods and a set of shims. Also if its a particularly hard job to do , Ill have to get around to it as the ticking noise is driving me mad . Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Hydraulic lifters are quiet so there must be to much slack in your valvetrain if it's ticking or something else is wrong. Personally I think solids will be a real pain and without regular attention will also make a clicking noise. Are you sure you need them?

Personal choice of course but there seems to be a trend away from using solids hence the V8 Dev hydraulic prototype cams currently being tested in Guillotine(404H) and my(MC1+)cars.Guillotine and others have found that the solid lifter cams require constant tappet adjustment

I've got solids in my Taraka conversion. See TVR Power's website for cost of parts. Once they've bedded in and been adjusted after 500 miles they say that they shouldn't need doing for 6000 miles, i.e. every service. This will add to the cost of servicing however, as it takes a few hours.
