Not sure how they measure it but with a not so nice exhaust it made 490 if true that realy does kill the LS7 or LS3 argument....

They Dyno the motor about half way in......

A case of censureship for the UK I am afraid!

Comes up with "not available in your location"

Is it pornographic?

Hi Clive,

Do you think it's regular gas or race etc?

I can't see the vid either. Just wondering about the gas as their other vids talk about alcholol and race gas engines.

Was the LS3 straight from GM with the GM hot cam already fitted (480bhp)

It'll just be regionally allowed content so unless you can appear to come from an IP in the US you won't be able to see it.

The videos shows it making that power on 93 "high octane" (for the US) pump gas.

483 is the best we have done on a standard 3 and 535 on a hot cam LS3 not a GM cam though!!

why does it kill the 3 /7 argument?

What would an LS7 make with a similar cam?

I don't think it kills the argument, it just underlines that an LS3 is a very good cost effective alternative if you want 500ish hp.

The price difference between the 2 is a big consideration if you only want 500bhp, half the price nearly same HP...

I Have a LS7, but find my self now wanting to though away the parts like the crank, rods and pistons, just seems a waste after spending $13K on a engine to be throwing most of it away. Makes way better sense to build up a new motor from a LS3 stroker bottom end and fit the parts to build up a 700bhp 427ci. So basically not buy a Crate motor at all.... Cost very similar to buying a LS7 if you build it yourself...
I got caught up in all the Hype of a LS7 so went out an bought one but realy should have waited a while
as there's always something better suited round the corner...

Clive

The LS3 stroker is fine if you have the skill to do it yourself and also if you are the "right" side of the pond to have access to lots of suppliers of performance parts at cheap delivery costs.

You can only get wet sump LS3's in England so everything has to come from the States and you need to know exactly what you want/need and order it correctly first time so that you don't end up sending anything back (if they will accept returns).

If you "only" want 550hp then the LS7 crate engine is a simple option if you are planning track days. If you have to throw much of it away to get more power then it may not be the way to go.

Hi,i was thinking of going for an ls3 engine. would like to know which is a better buy a 480bhp or 515bhp since they both seem to cost the same on that http://www.partsworldperformance.com/ls376515_6_2l... and if there any other website which i can officially purchase it from for a good bargain..

It would need to be a bargain. Beer in the union bar is pricey.
