Max towing weight

Can anyone tell my what the maximum weight trailor is I can tow with a 2000 Kia Sedona 2.9TDi? I have B+E on my licence.

Have a look under the bonnet theres a weight plate - Highest number is GTW or MAM which is its total train weight, less the next highest figure which is the cars own max weight. Difference is its tow limit.

You'll be near the limit with that combo I reckon

Most people use the 85% rule when towing, ie the trailer should weigh no more than 85% of the tow car. If you stick to that you wouldn't want to tow more than 1600kg in total if your Kia is manual or 1700kg if it's auto:

It's a manual.

My googling says it has a curb weight of 1880kg. Unless I load it up to the GVWR (Whatever that is) of 2545kg.

No disrespect intended, but having driven a Sedona I wouldn't try and tow anything other than a box trailer with one.

Unlike the A3 I passed earlier pulling a twin axle car transporter with a defender on it. His towhitch was about an inch off the road plus I could smell the burning clutch before I could even see what was pulling it.

Its also just an advisory thing dreamed up by the Caravanners, nothing in it in law but a sensible rule for normal cars in reality. Most proper 4x4's have rated tow limits of 150% & more which makes that rule look a bit limp.
