One of the true greats. I met him a couple of times. A massive character, with so much skill and flair, and someone who was a massive inspiration to many. RIP Seve, you will be missed.

The golfing world is poorer this morning, but richer for your gifts.

I'm inexplicably upset by this news, he was just a fabulous person both on and off the course, if nothing else I'll remember his amazing smile.

So so sad. He was desperate to get fit enough to turn up at last years Open and or Ryder Cup. His last couple of interviews had me in tears of happiness. Today will be the same tears without the happiness.

If there is a God then please bless Seve, a 'gentle' Man, a great Man. RIP.

Gutted absolutely gutted. I really thought He had His illness licked. cry

Aww Booo frown

Damn shame he lost his fight. A fabulous golfer and, by all accounts, a thoroughly nice chap.

RIP.

One of my childhood heroes. Grace and dignity personified, on and off the course. Always wore his heart on his sleeve. His determination and talent overcame his regular human frailty in a way that made him an inspiration far in excess of the monotonous sporting machines. Fantastic bravery and resolution through his illness.

No tantrums, no swearing, no club throwing, no anger. This man was truly a 'gentle' man.

Absolutely. His smile could lift the clouds. But, I wouldn't like to have been on the other end of his competitive glare.

Some of the shots that he conjured up, many from the adjoining car park, were not far short of miraculous.

He revolutionised the game and gave joy to many millions.

A great sportsman and a great man.

He did more to put Continental Europe on the golfing map than anyone. Before him, professional golf (with some exceptions) was mainly the preserve of North America and Britain and Ireland.
