Yet more woes - Alternator

Hi guys, Nick has been wiring up his car over the last few days, and has noticed that one of the terminals on his alternator has snapped off, so he'll need a new one. However, using the Alternative Parts List, he's found that the quinton hazell alternative is around £75+VAT (and that's including the exchange on his current alternator!!!). Cany anybody suggest where a cheaper alternative (excuse the pun) may be found?
Not sure what type of alternator it is but I'm guessing (not fiddled with one for a while) that the connectors will be on the rectifier/diode pack. You can probably buy this separately, hopefully for less than £75.

He likes that a lot. That'd sit nicely in his engine bay. His next task, once he's got it mechanically sound, is to go back and do little cosmetic jobs to get it looking really nice. He's got silicone pipes, red rockers, a silver painted plenum with red EFI and stripes, plus a few other little bits, but that alternator would really set things off. I'll speak to him and see if we can sort something out.Might well have the broken bit though, will have a look later

How much would it be if he sent you his old alternator? I take it you can rebuild them yourself and sell them on?
Nope I cant but I know a man who can but he charges about £35/40 depending and I will have to travel 20 miles or so each way twice (or pay expensive courier costs). It would make more sence either to buy the blinged one or find a local repairer to your selves.Norman
Hi. Ive only had my S2 a month, so I am very much the new kid, but had to change the regulator (the plastic gizmo that also holds the brushes)on the Alternator as it was only putting out about 12.5 volts. Unfortunately I cant open the photo you attached but if it is this terminal that is broken then a new regulator complete with brushes and terminal is only £15 and takes about 15 minutes to fit. You dont even need to remove the alternator.

That's the one! Difficult decision, he can have the one from motorfactors tomorrow for 75 quid plus vat but pay by card, or wait a bit and get yours with added bling (bling = good btw).
