Hi whilst driving yesterday I notice the clutch seem to be slipping. I was in 4th at 40 foot down to overtake on a duel carrage way and the revs increased but no speed same in 5th. The car has only done 16100 miles. I am going to ring pug tomorrow should this be coverd in my warranty as the car is only 18 monts old.

Wouldn't bet on it being covered under warranty tbh unless there is something such as on obvious oil leak causing it to slip.

More than likely if it is slipping they will want to remove the clutch (at your cost) to check if it is worn out - if it is then it'll not be on warranty I'm afraid.

I know it's hard to say but should it be going this quick? Also how much is a new clutch?

Under normal use it shouldn't start slipping at anything like that mileage but it very much depends on how its driven.

Saw somebody wear out a clutch on a new Focus in 350 miles a couple of years back!

Cost? No idea I'm afraid.

I seem to recall a problem with premature clutch slip on Peugeot diesels some time ago.

A lot of people were complaining, but Peugeot were trying to say that there wasn't a problem. Some of the Dealers were much more helpful than others.

If it was not a French manufacturer I would say it would be very unlikely they wouldn't cover such a low mileage, young car. However, you mentioned Peugeot, so I'm not holding out hope for a hassle free warranty experience.

Is this the right room for an argument?

Little update. Had a call from them this morning it was some problem with the flywheel so they are going to cover it.
So that's saved me about 1000 they said it would have costed.
