1 night in LA? What would you do?
Discussion
Will you be hiring a car? If so:
I'd drive the major landmarks; you'll need a sat nav app on your phone or your own one:
1) Follow Mulholland drive. It's a loop which'll take you around the homes in the Hollywood hills with views of Hollywood and the well known LA districts inc. Beverly Hills and Universal City.
2) Drive down Hollywood Boulevard and pass by the Kodak Movie Theatre and the Walk of Fame. Turn up Franklin Avenue for views of the Hollywood Sign.
3) Drive down Sunset Boulevard in to Sunset Plaza and then keep going toward Beverly Hills turning down Rodeo Drive.
4) Griffith Park (as above) will be cool either in the day or at night and is all in the same area as above.
But, if you don't have a car then that'll all be impossible.

I have a car so that is doable- and I think I i will do the above.I'd drive the major landmarks; you'll need a sat nav app on your phone or your own one:

Where in LA would you receommend staying- Would love a top rated Beverly Hills hotel but dont think my company would be too happy with that.
Would ideally like somewhere I can go out to some livly chilled out place in the evening without having to worry about driving back..

Your company might be ok with thy Beverley Hilton. That's where Mrs BC & I stay.Where in LA would you receommend staying- Would love a top rated Beverly Hills hotel but dont think my company would be too happy with that.

The Beverly Hilton is nicely located, but I can't think of too may walkable bars off the top of my head.
How about The Standard on Sunset Boulevard?
I checked a week from now on a Thursday night and it's £164 plus taxes. They have self-parking. It's about 500m from the House of Blues bar (Dan Akroyd owned I believe). The Standard have their own bar, but there are entry restrictions and I can't remember what they are. Bar Marmont is about the same distance in the other direction. A further 15 minutes walk up the road from the HoB you have The Viper Room, Whisky a Go Go, Rainbow Bar & Grill and The Roxy Theatre.
They aren't places that maybe you'd choose to visit every night if you're a local, but if you're in LA for one night then you might as well.

W Hotel in Westwood (UCLA/Wilshire Blvd district) - very nice suite hotel, with great bar and restaurant - and surrounded by fun and interesting places to eat and drink - all walkable and safe.Where in LA would you receommend staying- Would love a top rated Beverly Hills hotel but dont think my company would be too happy with that.

are you there for a saturday morning? if so you simply have to go to cars & coffee irvine. needs a very early start as its about an hour from the city proper [we arrived around 6am and some very nice cars left shortly after] but 100% worth it. i will get around to posting pics on here one day but google can prob. fill you in well enough to tempt you.
from there route back to do some driving in the hills and along mulholland drive. stop at the griffith observatory for awesome views. head down to venice for sunset. some great bars on abott-kinney as well.
dinner i'd go to picca peru as it is awesome. if you want to stay around hollywood then the woods and the
are both great and lively bars.

Andaz on Sunset Boulevard is very civilised, and not massively overpriced (it is a bit though)
. Mind you, if you are there, then stick your dates into booking.com and see what that kicks out. You never know.
+1

Hot dog in the railroad car round the corner then a pub crawl along the strip.

Mrs BC & I stayed there a while ago. The hotel is very nice but IMO not a great location, it's a not close enough to Hollywood or Bev Hills.
