Double glazing window handles - cant be all rubbish??
Discussion
So I've had some new double glazed windows installed - went for some reasonable quality aluminium windows from the Reynaers SL68 range with security upgrades etc.
I went to see how the fitters were getting on and noticed the brushed stainless handles that they fitted were actually a bit crap. I've been subsequently told these are standard Espag handles and what they fit on all their jobs. They are key operated locking handles.
The problem I have with the handles is that there is excessive movement/play in the handle when in the closed/locked position, they move around and don't have a solid engineered feel to them. The second issue I have is that when fully in the open position, the moving handle actually rubs against the fixed side of the handle unit, and causes a scratch/dent in the unit. So every time the window is opened and handle extended, you are essentially damaging the handle. How can this be right?
What I'm looking for is something that has a more engineered feel to it, feels solid and doesn't damage itself when opened. I have tried to see if Raynaers themselves offer something, but the window company have said their range doesn't fit this window which I will check myself with the manufacturers.
Can any experts on here advise further, or recommend a handle that works well and doesn't feel like it cost £1.50 to make in China.
Thanks!

On the contrary, I'd be exactly the same - I just don't have an answer as to where to get suitable replacements from. It's not so much the wobbling, more the interference with the frame.
I am a bit confused about Reynaers not being able to help - surely if its their profile they can advise what handles will fit? The ones you have evidently don't.

Still not what you would call precision but much better than what we had.

It's not, they have fitted the wrong handles if that's the case.Gassing Station | Homes, Gardens and DIY | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
