Something by VAG with a 1.8t maybe. 270 BHP is achievable with a remap depending on the engine code.

without soundingly like i'm stating the obvious, 130 mph is fast, well, fast enough that you need a car with a large amount of power, and not just a high power to weight ratio. There are plenty of cars that are quick to 60, or to maybe 100, but to 130 needs power, and lots of it.

My suggestion is some old knacked big engined german barge, or something where you can wind the boost up and hope it holds together....

I was going to say 100mph, then thought 150mph, but decided not many bangers would reach that speed, so settled on a compromise.

probably a mapped mercedes 320 cdi is the most powerful thing you could find for £1k or so, ideally a C class or CLK but the E class is a bit more common with that engine

My 9-3 aero manual cost me £500. Could get it boosted to 250bhp for £100. Had mine over 150 and it’s standard.
9-5 aero start at 250bhp can be boosted to 275bhp for same price.
