991 Turbo S previous or present owner reviews

Hi all
Just wondered if any previous or present owners of the above car on here. The reason being after 1 year of searching I have just placed a deposit on my perfect spec one and selling my R8 v10 Spyder to fund the purchase (plus loads to Porsche still sadly) Not driven one so its a but of an impulse visual buy as not seen the car in person, but placed faith in approved used Porsche.
I really wanted to know people who have owned or used 911 Turbo S their thoughts on the cars? For me its not a daily and will be laid up under cover 4 to 5 months a year

Had mine (2014 991.1TTS) 4.5 years so far and my use is same as your intended usage as my macan is the goto all year round ride when I just want to chillax 
Does everything so well and then some. Can be as docile as you like or like a scalded cat if you want it to be.
Get a good Geo set up as the OE one is pretty rubbish and my local OPC who stated they had done it left the 2 front tyres pointing different ways FFS!!!
Try look for one with its 4 year service complete as thats a big cost due to spark plug replacement, after that theres an intermediate service 2 years later, however i change the oil & filter every 12 months no matter what the mileage covered was.
Had a turbo actuator replaced under warranty as it’s common for them to stick with low use.
It’s actually more economical than my previous car a 997 Turbo and has a far more superior interior.
I find it suffers from a lot of road noise, maybe tyre choice but PZeros and Cup2’s made no appreciable difference.
Some rave about Burmester (which i have) yes its good but with the above issue the quality is wasted, burmester is far more suited to the quiet cabin of the macan (which has Bose) so wish i could swap them
It was in PZeros but now runs on Cup2’s because low use and mileage issue are not a concern, also of which help on track days albeit make sure you run proper pressures.

the change in interior from 997 to 991 almost makes 911 a different class of car. Very luxurious compared to previous 911s
The R8 owner kept on asked SWMBO for a rematch which she obliged. Poor fellow lost multiple races in brand new R8 Plus. Was fun to watch lots of head scratching.

The world doesn't revolve around straight line speed.
It's certainly not top of my list when purchasing a supercar. Not even top three.
You won't feel short changed by either cars performance on the road.
And while doing so, the R8 looks better, has a better interior and has one of the best, and best sounding, engines ever put into production.

Here's her day @ VMAX200 over Summer. Her turbo s stock. Smokes bone fide supercars multiple races. Even faster on circuit. Brill on road with a mountain of torque. Her girlfriend's husband has an R8. They barely use it simply not practical enough with kids, family etc. Turbo s much easier to live with. Does everything so well.

Straight line speed and LC is for Americans.
Not interested in either. The TTS is as good in the bends as most cars with a capable driver.

It wasnt really about speed, Ive had a v10 Spyder for 3 years now its stunning, but the 991 Turbo s in Racing Yellow is very pretty too.
It took me over a year searching daily to find the spec and colour I wanted at the same time searching for an R8 Gen 2 Spyder in high spec in Vegas. It was a two car search and 991 came first. I am not sure I agree on the interior as the R8 has a nice only if you get the quilted leather etc, the base ones are a little mundane inside. What I have learned is if you see a car which meets your spec criteria and it all stacks up buy it, as you can wait years literally to find another (unless youve got the money to spec from new)

Had a ride in my cousins R8, i agree, great looking car but it just wasn't for me to be honest.
Had the pleasure of 2 passenger laps of the Ring in a 458, absolutely loved it and id buy ine tomorrow if it wasn't for the running costs.
Porsche cars appear to do everything have reasonable servicing intervals and costs by comparison plus a great warranty cover if you want to but it.
And as you say, unless you can buy new and spec it how you want it takes a while to find the one you ‘want’.

I daily mine - it's a very competent all rounder. From school runs at one of the spectrum to track days at the other. Too usable to be laid up for a third of the year but at the same time not special enough to be a weekend only type car. All IMO.

I own other GT cars so not trying to talk the GT3 down but they have a much narrower remit than the Turbo which is often mis-described as a junior supercar when really it's a GT car on steroids.

I daily mine (so slightly different use) but love it and cant fault it.
I am bias towards Porsche and although I love a GT cars, I am in the minority and pick the Turbo S each time.
There are very few people who regret buying them, so hopefully you have a very positive experience.

Thanks its good to hear from people that have been there and done it, big departure for me spending this kind of money on a car as its pure ownership so I have to keep it well should I need to sell it at some point!!!

I’ve driven my 991.2 Turbo S Cab mostly on long trips during UK visits including Wales, Scotland and also Spain, France, Italy etc and can vouch for the car’s touring ability. Covid means the car has barely been driven for 18 months because I can’t get to it. I’m missing it like mad.
Anyway, it’s the ultimate all rounder. Get one!

Odd question but can you confirm if your 991 Turbo S came with hardcopy owners manual, not just the service booklet? Ive asked Porsche twice now and not got a straight answer as yet?
