Well a year after i initially called CCM and was put off by the non-committal on delivery schedules, i finally put a deposit down at the London Bike Show in Feb. Now paid for my Bobber in full, and i'm told it's due to start build this week. We'll see if that's true but they have agreed to April delivery being a condition of sale so might have to test that if it does go a little wrong!
I've gone for one of their newer powder coated frames after seeing some reports of early lacquered ones having tiny rust spots appear under the lacquer. Although i understand that's all sorted now i feel more comfortable with powdercoated. Spec is similar to this but without the front Ohlins forks as they're megabucks!!

Will report back with an update once i've had delivery!
After what happened with Norton and the current uncertainty of the financial impact on businesses from the Coronavirus it is quite brave paying in full before they build the bike (although if you paid with a credit card I think you get protection).I've gone for one of their newer powder coated frames after seeing some reports of early lacquered ones having tiny rust spots appear under the lacquer. I’ve gone for a white tank and darker powdercoated frame, a few carbon and billet bits but no brake or suspension upgrade as they’re meant to be suited pretty well to the bike already... although I love ohlins.. the almost £5k cost was way too much!

Yep I can’t argue with that, they do have a very healthy order bank and the company financials look stable from what I could check (not necessarily a great protection but worth checking anyway)I’ve paid all of it on one credit card so I’m as protected as can be. The corona virus may have some impact but it’s likely to be further down the line and like everything, the impact is unknown so I’ll just get on with life and take this purchase as one mild risk.
The ergonomics of the bike itself felt absolutely spot on for my 5ft10, and that’s what clinched it for me.
I’ve got some hesitation about the big single but it’s meant to be quite smooth and not much vibration so fingers crossed that’s true!

Erm...if this is a mod that owners have come up with why aren't the factory all over it? buyers are paying silly money to be beta testers, FFS! Mind you, watch them all queue up to do the same for TVR if they ever manage to get a product to market. I honestly can't fathom it myself.
Well with corona now taking over, the production line has completely closed for at least 2 weeks if not longer so my bike is still just a bare frame. All signs are still good from the company, they've got 40 bikes that have been msva'd and awaiting final pdi and delivery, and mine should go into build as soon as it's safe for them to start working again.
I suspect any long delay may be down to MSVA as i believe they've stopped all testing/visits, so i've just got fingers crossed i'll have at least some of the summer left when it arrives.
Also got fingers crossed it doesn't all go tits up. I've paid on credit card so hopefully some protection. May give them a call to check!

Well i'm glad CCM didn't go under due to covid as this bike is superb! Arrived around 4 weeks ago....
Riding position is spot on, controls are all good, even the billet levers are great as I was a bit worried the reach from the bar wasn’t short enough but in practice they’re fine and have a nice feel about them. The gearbox even fresh out the factory is lovely, changes are smooth and crisp with no drama at all.
Without baffles the sound is spot on for me, I always wear earplugs anyway but it’s just the right side of obnoxious
I was a little apprehensive about the big single cylinder style of riding needed but it all fits well with the whole bike, adds plenty of character it’s got enough poke due to the low weight.
All in all I’m super chuffed with the whole thing, it feels as special as the HP2 I used to have although it’s a very different bike to ride!

Mate has just ordered a CCM but due to some cock up at the DVLA, although delivered, he couldn't take it on a run down to Newquay with us a couple of weeks ago. CCM gave him a loan of one similar to the above (#1 of 500) for the duration. On the plus side, it gets more attention than any other bike but on the down side, the noise is ridiculous. I don't really mind 'louder' exhausts but this thing was obnoxiously loud. So much so, he wouldn't accelerate or touch the throttle in built up areas and would get off the bike, pissed-off every time
picking up my CCM Spitfire Six in 2 weeks and planning on riding it home (200 miles)
I have all day for the ride and I'm not planning on much motorway
any top tips or things to watch out for from owners? Have they changed the stand since the early ones (Sprung up too easily)
I've specced chain guard and sprocket cover so I'm not expecting to get my riding jeans caught in the chain but anything else unique ??
grey tank / misty lava frame / twin Brembos / carbon mudguards and a few other bits
its replacing a Scrambler 1200 xe
cheers

I had a CCM Spitfire Scrambler and agree regarding the stand and turning the ignition off.
Surprisingly I found the gearbox on mine very slick from the off and even more surprisingly I found it a comfortable bike to ride distances on and any stops were more down to the limited fuel range rather than comfort.
The only problem I had with mine was the clear lacquered frame as rust showed under the clear lacquer but if you have a misty lava coated frame this should hopefully not be a problem.
A trivial point but fuel stops become lengthy affairs as the bike attracts a lot of interest from people when you are filling up or parked.
There may be restrictions due to Covid but when I ordered mine I visited the factory and was given a tour round the factory which was interesting.

I started off thinking I’d buy the original Scrambler recently sold on collecting cars . But the clear coat thing you are absolutely right and corrosion spots appear. The only solution is a frame swap. Plus I think early bikes / customers have done the R&D that CCM should have done themselves
I like the look of the Six and they had a cancelled order which I’ve changed slightly.
I’ve had and enjoyed various single cylinder KTMs so I’m
Hoping this will be similar but a much less lairy image.

How much are these new? There's a much modified Flat Tracker just popped up on Facebook for £10500 which seems a bit strong.
I think the base price was £10k ...but none are ever base models, the are all customised/optioned up to owners requests...you can easy spend another few grandGassing Station | Biker Banter | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
