Reminds me of one of my favourite Punch cartoons.

Don't you just love the internet? Hadn't thought of it for years but tapped "I keep thinking it's Tuesday" into the search and there it was.

Is this not crying out to be inhabited by a shaven-headed Donald Pleasance looky-likey with a penchant for stroking white cats and planning world domination? Haven't checked if this is a repost; if so sorry.

Have seen it before I'm sure it's on the thread somewhere, worth looking back for.

Can someone explain this?

Or is the joke that it confuses people because its not funny?

It's the element of absurdity. Hippos don't really concern themselves with the minutiae of life.

Don't think this place has been mentioned, I love this building so much, wish it was in my back garden.

Seems to be debate on its name but I will stick with Haverholme Priory as that is what Wiki says if want further info, interesting history. Remains on private land.

Can't remember if Rauceby Mental Hospital has been mentioned? went there yesterday, not much left frown

Did love the clock tower that was just about left though

I once went climbing on (and inside) this:

It used to be full of this:

and next to it were six long antenna's:

and then nazi's came bombarding and this happened:

It was the first armoured concrete building in the world, and was used for long wave radio communication between Netherlands and Indië, after the war, the raw concrete on the outside of the building got coated with some sort of cheap grit, impossible to remove, so it's lost it's historical value.

I want to go to the russian woodpecker in chernobyl if I have the time smile

E,

Now that would be interesting.

I hope you make it and don't dose up on radiation!

http://www.artificialowl.net/2008/12/abandoned-gia...

I remember when the woodpecker was on the air causing radio interference all over the world. I think if you were close by and not protected you'd be vaporised, like all the bird life unlike next to Chernobyl where'd you'd just glow in the dark, lose your hair and then vaporise. frown

ok guys, been keeping a keen eye on this thread and i wondered if one of you could point me in the direction of some Hi-res images from urbex adventures.

my hallway and landing is crying out for some new artwork. i would love to have 3 or 4 really cool images blown up and printed on to good paper and put in really nice frames.

i'm not going to steal images from anyone or use them without permission, just wondered if anyone knew where i could get some, or if someone on here would mind sending me some images in exchange for some beer tokens.

bit of a rambling post, but if any of you would like to have some of your pictures immortalised in my house feel free to drop me a PM.

cheers
Dave.

I am too old and forgetful now to remember if this place has been mentioned.

But hey ho..

I love these, there is the Bull fort and Haile fort (below) on the west coast. Don't think getting on them is much a of a chance though frown
