Something else that took me out of context was the product placement of the two Audis; having had various shots of decay and waste it then cuts to them rocking up at Tony's lake front cabin with subsistence farming plot in a new model Audi....
Yeah it stood out way way too much. Foliage said:

Who is going to replace Tony as the brains of the operation, I wonder? They need an inventor.
Like a professor? She could definitely fill the inventor role though, it's a good shout.
A thread on another forum I'm on has been pointing out all the various possibilities about people rematerialising 5 years later at wherever they got dusted, like there had to be a bunch of people travelling on a plane somewhere, who reappeared in the sky with their plane long gone. That would be... interesting.
There had to have been a load of situations where a husband or wife just disappeared, and the surviving widow ends up moving on with someone else, then pop I'm back! Awkward! I guess you can't really think too much about that stuff.
Captain Marvel seemed completely redundant, the logic of her vanishing to deal with something (earthquakes?) on other planets when the Avengers are trying to undo half the frigging universe being wiped out seems incongruous to say the least. Seemed like they didn't know what to do with her at all. I haven't seen Captain Marvel though, so for all I know there could be logic to it?
Film was a hot mess narratively but I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy Thor getting to see Frigga again, even if it was pure fanservice.

I haven’t seen CM either but I understand she treats the universe as her responsibility not just Earth. So everyone vanished there too and needed helping as well. Given that the surface of the earth is near 1000mph at the equator, orbits the sun at 67000mph which is itself orbiting the galactic centre at some even more ridiculously speed, I don't stress too much about placement on earth in time travel- the same "place" is vaccum five years ago.Now I’m less emotional about the whole thing which blew me away all weekend I can process it a bit more!
I’m side stepping anything anything to do with time travel since that’s always a mess in any movie!
Wouldn’t you be a bit narked that Stark had to complete the third snap? Don’t get me wrong his death/sacrifice makes sense for the story but surely Captain M would be able to compete the snap without dying?
How do the get the stones out of things like the Tesseract? In fact how do people like Hawkeye just carry one in their hand? Are certain ones harder to wield ala the power stone in Guardians?

That’s a good point. She probably could. But then we wouldn’t have that gesture from Dr Strange letting Tony know this is the 1 scenario in 14 million. That was a fantastic moment. I’m side stepping anything anything to do with time travel since that’s always a mess in any movie!

I like that everyone picked up on the fact the whole universe was saved due to the rat turning on Ant Man’s machine! All hail the rat!
As others have said - a masterpiece. Some genuine tears at points...
On reflection, one thing that's really bugging me though - they spend ages working out and preparing for the time heist, it's one shot, no one can fail, etc.
All the while completely ignoring Thor's obvious breakdown, and sending him off with a raccoon. Good job ol Rocket has a decent slap, and Mom has good hearing...
They spent some time in the aftermath showing him recognise he's not built to be a leader, yet showed absolutely none of the journey from 'hermit Fortnite playing alky' through to 'God of Thunder trustworthy to travel to Asguard for one of the six most important actions in the history of the universe'.

I think at the point Thor went back to asgard, he was still very much in Lebowski mode - but was the only one that knew his way round there or could probably talk to his ex enough to allow Rocket to do the jabbing. Did think there was a slight missed comedy opportunity for a scene of Rocket actually getting the ether - but was Natalie Portman actually in the cast for this movie, or did they just use a shot from Dark World 2 with added Racoon? On reflection, one thing that's really bugging me though - they spend ages working out and preparing for the time heist, it's one shot, no one can fail, etc.

The other thing that bugged me is that in GotG Quill surviving contact with the stone required a massive effort and actually the power of it had to go through all the guardians. In this movie they are being handed out like sweets.
This was one of my big bugbears with it. All a bit hand wavey, considering in previous movies even touching a stone would mean injury or even death to anyone even remotely mortal.I went into this liking the character of Hawkeye, but this made him seem like a bit of a dick and he had too much screen time. Also, that haircut...

Five years later and Peter and his classmates are still at school. WTF?
My other gripe is that despite the film's length, some characters definitely felt glossed over. Drax, Strange, Quill and others seemed to be paid by the word, only speaking a tiny bit even though they were on screen plenty.
Enjoyed it enough, certainly didn't feel like three hours, and yes, the fan service and gags were a bit gratuitous (particularly pudgy Thor), but they did a good enough job. Wasn't buzzing like I was after IW though.

I guess there is a version where they probably all snapped, all got sacrificed for the soul stone etc etc and this was the only version that worked.

Thanks. I kept seeing references to the rat. Couldn't remember where it was. Kept trying to picture something towards the end.I like that everyone picked up on the fact the whole universe was saved due to the rat turning on Ant Man’s machine! All hail the rat!
Silly question time. Fat Thor, did Hemsworth go full "Christian Bale" and hit the burgers or was it prosthetics.

Prosthetics. He’s nowhere as large in the muscular way as he was, still ridiculously buff though. Silly question time. Fat Thor, did Hemsworth go full "Christian Bale" and hit the burgers or was it prosthetics.
