John Wark (former Scotland International and Ipswich Town player) - absolutely top bloke. Happy to sign stuff and chat about the old days.

Michael Sheen, met him at the Hilton Park Lane while me and the Mrs were celebrating our 15th anniversary, a very polite and personable guy, posed for a couple of pics with the doris.

Griff Rhys Jones, nice bloke, softly spoken and seemed a bit shy.

John Travolta - very down to earth and interested in other people. No air of 'do you know who I am' at all.

Michel Roux Junior - Modest and a bit shy.

Alan Carr - Just as funny off screen but slightly toned down - not as high pitched off screen either. Genuinely interested in others.

Just as funny off screen? So he's still not funny?

I sat across the isle from Jade Goody on a plane there and back from holiday. She couldn't control her 2 kids and sang nursery rhymes that were full of profanity.

Sister in law has Carol Vorderman come into her shop at Cribbs Causeway fairly regularly.
Most unpleasant, demands to jump the queue in a 'don't you know who I am?' Kind of way.

Eta: she doesn't let her, btw. hehe

When we visited he showed us all the stuff he was working on and answered all our silly questions. We were over for GNRS so there were a few groups of brits around the area, at Foose's one northern lad was stood next to a car and basically said "So Chip, what you want to do here is..." and started pointing at a bit of the car, he found it as funny as us and posed for some photos as if he was listening to this bloke and taking instruction/advice etc.
Some of us bought a t-shirt, not only did he sign each one but drew a different car on each of them.

Top bloke IMHO.

Marcel Deley & sons were also great to talk to. The first time we went we explained we were in the area and touring shops and Marcel invited us in and explained that after we left they'd go home and drink some beer. Through conversation it appears that drinking beer follows most things hehe He was about 80 at the time and sharp as anything.

All the shops were good really, the only exception was the tt at Barry White's who got the hump because we didn't buy a t-shirt.
To be fair it's down to you I built up the courage to contact him. I put a thread on here asking for hot rod/car places to visit while on honeymoon and you gave the Foose idea I never considered.

So thank you, I still speak to Chip now and again and am pleased to see he finished the 'Imposter' this week as it was just being metal formed when we visited.

Hoping to pop back in September smile

Roy Wood - Sat next to him at a curry house, down to earth guy.
Gwyndaf Evans - Drove me and my wife around Curborough sprint track very flamboyantly
The Queen - Had a "what do you do conversation?" with her at a reception in Buckingham Palace.
Richard Branson - He was wandering round the plane on a Virgin flight to Miami, chatting to passengers, including me.
Christopher Ecclestone - Met him on a flight to Dubrovnik last year
Tony Blair waved to me once, he was with David Blunkett who blanked me, miserable sod.

My dad used to be one of British Airways operations managers so got to fly first class a lot growing up...

I have a photo of me when I was about 8 with Charlton Heston (on board a BA 747 on the way to L. A.) apparently an amazingly nice guy and the cabin crews always liked him.

John Reese Davies - sat next to him on a flight (again in to L. A. ). Really nice guy, very perfectly spoken and so effortlessly polite. This was in the days of the movies on the mini VHS tapes. We both chose the same movie so ended up chatting (I was maybe late teens at the time) a lot of the flight.

The smiths - on a flight back from the USA. Bunch of a-holes. Smelt, constantly swearing and dropping rubbish in the isles. Eventually the captain came down and bked them quite severely and another guy flying with them (I guess their manager) had to really keep telling them to shut up after that.

More down to earth meetings...

Johnny Herbert - great guy, really willing to chat and pose for photos with everyone.

Derek Bell - just like Herbert, just really down to earth and eager to engage

Mika Hakkinen - so different without a camera in his face. Actually quite thoughtful, his responses to questions were informative and actually really funny. Met him at a McLaren event so he was really relaxed and chilled.

James Martin - proper bloke. Loves cars and pretty down to earth.

Chris Barrie - fascinating guy, quite happy to chat

Robert Llewelyn - seriously nice guy. Used to come into a mates pub with the contestants and crew while filming scrap heap challenge. Quite happy to mingle and chat. Female friend of mine was chatting to him for about 10mins before she actually new who he was. Met him again recently and he remembered the pub well and ended up chatting about it again. Genuinely loves technology too.

Danny John Jules - quite simply the happiest man on the planet. Such a nice bloke. Massively friendly with anyone and actually found it funny when folk got star struck and made extra effort to relax them.

Valentino Balboni - met him at Goodwood FOS. It was the year of the Gallardo unveiling and he drove all the way from Italy in a prototype. I remember asking him a stupidly difficult question....

"So which do you prefer, the V12 or the new V10?"

He chuckled and thought about it for a short while then finally I got my answer....

"Weeeeeell, there are a many different types of beeeeutiful lady...." Said with a wry smile.

Top guy and that answer stuck with me laugh

Jason Donovan - much smaller than you'd expect, kind of like a hyperactive toddler
In some kind of bizarre coincidence that's the impression I formed when we bumped into him yesterday (helped by the fact he was jogging through central Birmingham whilst (presumably- thought he was a nutter at first glance!) reciting lines to himeself from a performance he was learning!

When I met him he was singing arias from the opera he'd been watching, so sounds about right hehe

And the preconceptions busted or confirmed? (as in the topic of this thread, not just "ive met famous people, all look at me")

Zara Phillips - very normal, down to earth horsey person. Absolutely no airs or graces whatsoever, you would never know she was royal. Everyone in eventing calls her 'Zara' , there is definitely no forelock tugging or bowing. She is now such a familiar face around the sport that nobody takes much notice of her really, she is just another competitor.

I never met Mr. Rhys-Davies but I drove his car. I did a magazine piece about Mark Grinnal, who was developing the Scorpion at the time.

He took me out on the bare chassis - no passenger seat and I ripped my trousers on a rough weld.

I took John Rhys-Davies's red Grinnal TR8 out next. I was planning to use a local stately home as a backdrop but there was filming going on. So I took the car up on Clee Hill. Just got the pics in the can when the weather broke. Luckily, I got the hood up enough just in time to protect the interior - magnolia hide and Wilton carpet.

Rapid motor and fun in the wet!
