I've also noticed recently that smart, well educated looking people don't buy premium German Motors anymore, and in fact you're quite likely to see them in a KIA.

The roads are also full of toerags in financed 1-Series, Mercs and Audi's around here too, but all of the posh houses have non premium 4x4's with Bike Racks on the roof parked outside them.
German cars are about as classy as Chlamydia these days and I'm getting out soon.

You're all wrong I'm afraid guys. Whenever I drop the kids off at school in the part of London I live in, you'll notice sportswear clad, tattooed parents in BMW's and Mercs and an army of very middle class looking (and sounding) people in matching KIA Sportage's.

I agree, whenever I see someone in a Kia Cee'd or a Hyundai Sorento, I usually assume it's some form of hedge fund manager, or blue chip stock broker. I feel sick to my stomach when I see the absolute trash in a 17 plate Maybach or Rolls. On a serious note, I do see more M4's in Bradford than anywhere else. We'll see. If you're right and it ends up costing more than the BMW it's certainly not going to sell. Realistically I think the Kia needs to maintain at least a 10% price advantage in terms of real sale prices (or more precisely lease prices) to have a hope.
More precisely PCP prices I think. The lease market is increasing but PCP is still the dominant force in new cars.Edited by kambites on Thursday 5th October 14:31
I went to see a kia stinger at my local Kia dealership last month...I believe it was the one road tested in the article, if I remember the registration right. It looked great in my personal opinion and I’d have leased one if the price were right. Although, much as I’d have wanted one, at £495 into the £450 a year tax bracket, I won’t. Honestly, who passes for management when they decide to price cars in a country when it’s that close to the cut off!
I’m also unimpressed by the 6000 or 6 months service intervals....really!

Those service intervals seem crazy, the sort of thing you'd expect on a hardcore rally racer like the Mitsubishi FQ400I’m also unimpressed by the 6000 or 6 months service intervals....really!

The GT-S maybe a low seller with being over the 40k bracket - but the GT-Line S with 2.0 turbo, LSD as standard, in fact a shed load of kit as standard you don't get on the big German usual contenders, seems like it will be a good buy. Comparable to the Alfa Giulia Velocce.
I would love the GTS - I think it looks great, has excellent level of kit, and comes with a tailgate, which is a big thing for me in a world where sporty RWD platforms seem to be mainly saloons, it means I don't need an estate.
I think it will depend on the deals available whether I go for GTS or GT-Line S, (obviously also the test drive is important just in case it turns out to be a dog) but I am massively interested in this car, Kia badge or not.
to compare this tumbledryer on wheels to a veloce is sacrilege! I would love the GTS - I think it looks great, has excellent level of kit, and comes with a tailgate, which is a big thing for me in a world where sporty RWD platforms seem to be mainly saloons, it means I don't need an estate.

its crap, looks crap, is crap, will drive crap, and is being championed by those anti german who i can only imagine have a chip on their shoulders as they wont buy a decent car so buy some cheap garbage spewed out by a company who are more used to building applicances.
Yet they will claim to consider one as its differnet and' better' than the germans when we all know its not and wont be anywhere near as good inside, out or on the road...for the simple fact they couldnt afford the german equivalent, i assume? in which case just spec a nice insignia gsi, or focus

You doth protest too much, plus the continued 'white goods' analogy is hilarious considering the number of people buying cookie-cutter cars made in Eastern European factories carrying badges registered to plc's in Germany because they want something allegedly 'reliable' rather than dynamic that you seem to be going to great lengths to credit with having made purchasing decisions or more than just superficial ignorance.PS. The sat-nav chucked it on my father's KIA Sorento on his way back from his latest trip to Italy last week. He thought he was going to be hit with a bill for circa. £3k to replace the unit because there was a doubt it was covered by the 7 year thing. He needn't have worried though - fixed FOC.
What was that again about misleading warranties.......?

Wow, as a comparison my S5 needs its first service after about 17000 and nearly 2 years.
Its how they pay for that 7 year warranty!
Alternatively it's how they have the faith to offer a 7 year warranty. Its how they pay for that 7 year warranty!
If I was in the market for one of these that'd be a deal breaker for me, not because of the cost but because of the inconvenience.
