Yes, that was a good one. Although as I recall the different between the two prices was non-trivial and was reasonably representative of the work done. But, granted, less than it would have cost for him to have paid to have the work done.

I moved to the US in 2004 and a few years later Wheeler Dealer started showing over here. I thought it would bomb, being a very 'English' show with cars not usually seen over here. How wrong I was. So many of my American car friends loved the show..
As for Edd's departure, I say fair play to him. I was just chatting to a couple of friends about it and it occurred to me that maybe Edd China and James May double act could have potential in some sort of automotive or transport related show?

Just watched an interview with Mike & Ant at the Practical Classics show. And all the talk was pretty much about WD.

Mike had a slightly different view to Edd about the reduction of the spannering aspect of the show and says it is not being reduced in the new series or now format and apparently doesn't know why Edd said this.

Also he says Edd made the choice back in July.

And now I can't find the link to this interview to show you but it's on the Wheeler Dealer facebook page.

To be fair he's unlikely to say "yeah we're lessening the mechanics bit" as that will make it less interesting to car heads. As people here have already noticed it being a smaller proportion of the recent programmes it seems odd for him to deny its being reduced...

I wonder if it's related to going upmarket and the days of rattle cans being over for the 'restos'? They seem to have been moving into classics rather than old jalopys and swapping Edd for Ant would seem to fit.

I was surprised myself.

I enjoyed the show but found the last year to be less Edd and fixing cars and more Mike. I did not like this and ended up not watching the last few.

Mike is delusional, no where near the biggest show, goes on to insult the viewers who actually watch his show and can't take the negative feedback and the disables comments on his YouTube video.

Can you qualify that or is it simply what you believe?
I've no idea if it is the biggest or not even close but I suspect it must be reasonably close - everywhere I go on holiday discovery ch is always available and those re runs appear.

Mike has now disabled comments. There's been some interesting insight into what most likely happened and it didn't put Mike in too good of a light so I'm not surprised he'd done that.

The abuse Brewer has been getting online since China quit is somewhat bizarre. Some people are mental. Wheeler Dealers is just a simple car show and Edd is a grown adult capable of making his own decisions. No need for all the drama.

WD is distributed through the massive Discovery network and gets around 100-200m viewers worldwide. It has good claim to being the world's biggest car show. Especially since GT only gets a few million viewers and TG now appears to be struggling to hit the 50-100m range.

The best Wheeler Dealers are from 2008 to about 2013. When the Yanks took over and moved production to the US of A it just turned into an overproduced piece of ste.

It has been said that Velocity thought that Edd China bits were difficult to film but I would have to ask how Attaboy and their crew of 8 managed to do it very successfully for nearly a decade.

The issue is actually pretty simple. The internet was brought up and used only by l33tists, then all these special n00bs got on the internet bandwagon without realising what they were getting in for, aka trolling, wishing cancer, keyboard warriors etc. Now the situation has become that these utter n00bs need protecting because they were threatened with cancer or that their mother is in danger of a bloody good rogering by Tyrone. Anyone who can't handle these type of insults or keyboard warriorism really shouldn't be on the internet.

I genuinely laughed out loud when Brewer said he had been threatened with cancer , this is just classic trolling and I am genuinely amazed it has been taken so seriously.
