Cannot find the fly more in stock anywhere, is it worth buying the basic or waiting it out
Apple stores all saying 11th December, for delivery from them 4-11 December. Personally I’d wait it out.

I've got to reiterate what everyone has been saying about this little drone.

For the money it's just great fun, very stable, very easy to fly, takes great pictures and with the Fly More pack the batteries seem to go on forever! There's something very satisfying about seeing areas you've known all your life from a totally different perspective.

I've only managed to take it out properly a couple of times but I'm hoping to get plenty of use out of it, especially when the weather picks up.

I still can't get used to how high and far it can go and I'm not anywhere near testing the drone code limitations.

My biggest fear is that now this is very affordable and under the weight needed to register it, that if loads get bought for Xmas and people are just reckless with them, it's definitely going to ruin it for everyone sooner rather than later. You can have a great time with them while staying very much on the right side of the law. I just hope the general public realise it isn't a toy and use it sensibly as DJI will sell a truck load of them, especially over the Xmas period.

Thinking about getting one to complement my photography.

In terms of use, can you realistically use drones in a public space, say a park or coastline. I’m guessing as long as you stay 50m from them then you are ok.

This is useful:

https://dronesafe.uk/safety-apps/, in combination with the Drone Code guidance.

Check your local park byelaws. Many of them already have existing restrictions for model aircraft which also apply to drones.

Lovely bit of of footage there how was the wind and also what sort of range was you traveling looked more than adequate
It doesn't really seem to be affected by wind although it was quite calm yesterday. Definitely haven't had any problems with stability so far.

Not sure how long the range was but not more than 200m because I was keeping an eye on it. Personally I think that the limited range thing isn't as much of an issue as many make out.
I was thinking the same with the distance limits, I checked on google maps the distances I was actually flying with my spark recently when at my parents and it wasn’t nearly as far as I expected, think I didn’t get over 300m distance but felt much further.

I wouldn't go overboard with scrambling for just any stock available. The weather in the uk is going to be fairly unsettled for the next few weeks so even if you bagged one, the opportunities for decent flights are fairly limited. Just get your preorders in for a fly more bundle from a reputable retailer and wait for things to settle down.

Very good point and I was going to say something similar.

I'm really restricted to decent weekends at the moment and again this weekend is looking a bit grim.

Bring on the better weather when it'll really come into it's own thumbup

It can be a mixed bag at this time of year. Early mornings IME are generally best for flying in the UK.

I think the mini does ok in the wind but only till maybe 10mph.

Yes the last 10 pages discussing!!!

Basically the only difference is the USA is 5gig only but at much higher power so has much more range. Range 2000-4000m depending on conditions.

UK version 2.4 and 5gigs but at lower power. Range 500-2000m depending on conditions and if you manually select 2.4.

US version will be restricted if flown in UK probably to around 500m.

Update for the Fly app for iphone.... It now remembers the RTH altitude instead of reverting to 15m.

In other news.... do not fly your drone indoors very close to you and other things.... cue, new set of blades installed laugh

So with this new mini coming in under 250g do you still need to take the qualifications to use it commercially? I guess the video and photo quality is up to scratch.

Yes to fly commercially you’d still need to licence.
