Remember Rossleighs showroom on Union st????
sure do, I used to stay in Union Row many many years ago so we used to go through from the back of the aberdeen motors showroom through to unions street - IIRC it was called Heron Rossleighs across the road before it shut?

When I used to visit my grandparents,up your way, we always went to Holburn Ices for a knickerbocker glory. Is it still there?

That was 30 odd years ago now.

What was in the building where Michie's chemist is now? Some sort of theatre/ cinema with the canopy over the pavement?

Not sure about michi'es, but size/layout wise it could we have been a cinema/theatre

some other cinemas - there was the playhouse which was up past the capitol, no canopy; opposite side of the road (opposite the soul bar) was the majestic it had a canopy http://www.scottishcinemas.org.uk/scotland/aberdee...

Other one with a canopy was the gamount, which was opposite the old ici bar http://www.scottishcinemas.org.uk/scotland/aberdee...

Ahem nerd Willy's was originally on Castle Terrace before the Boulevard was built. Funny how we found ourselves "glancing" in the window after Church on a sunday morning.whistle

Indeed he is. Herbert Lowe I think was his name. I was there about a year ago with a friend.

I remember the queue for the first Ghostbusters film stretching all the way out the front door of that cinema and heading down the side road to the Ford dealer (I think it was??) at the bottom of the hill...

Anyone remember the Ford salesroom by the Green, just where the Trinity Centre stairs are? Was it Harpers or Cordiners ?

Can remember being there to see the unveiling of the Capri. Really good set up, cut away bodies, cut away rotating engines, the whole 9 yards.

Of course, I did buy one, a 1.6 XLGTR .......................................... about 10 years later..smile

I can remember harper's garage in union glen (& the showroom at the top of the road on the corner - was latterly 'rollerland' before becoming a pub). There was also cordiners on great wertern road, on the site west of the ashvale (now flats) & there was just along the road roy thomson garage which was the rootes dealer. roy was the brother of alistair thomson who was the owner thomson of cults VW/audi dealer in 70s

some more photos outside cheynes & a roller bought for £10!

Harpers was next door to where the Ashvale is now and Cordiners was further along.... maybe where Roy Thomson's was??

Indeed he is. Herbert Lowe I think was his name. I was there about a year ago with a friend.

The tobacconist was originally Peter Craigmyle. He sold 20 - 30 years ago to Steve Sillet, an ex Customs Officer. Steve then sold it to Herbert Loves, an Edinburgh or Glasgow based company I believe. They in turn then sold it to the couple who were managing it, who I think are still running it.

My mother used to work there years ago. Finest knickerbocker glories ever made. Run by the 'Biccocies' friends of my mum and dad.
