Yeah not that I am close to target market for this sort of car, but not really one that does anything for me. It just seems they are trying too hard with the styling these days. The 2005 AM V8 had a simple brutishness about it. I honestly cant think of an Aston which has come along since that mid 00s V8 or V12 vantage which is a more pleasing car on the eye to look at. last night's Aston gave the impression that it would be a right handful in the wet too....

I must admit I thought it looked a fabulous drive in his hands and clearly Harry loved it, not in that colour scheme I'd want something a bit warmer and earthy, green and tan perhaps but a euro tour in that would be a pleasure.

At £400k once optioned it's silly money but that's the way things are.

You can pay over £60k nowadays for a Hyundai for example, so £400k doesn't seem too bad for something as decent as an Aston Martin in comparison I reckon.

Yeah it's a bargain Lee.

I do think that it is a bit disappointing that we live in a time where even a V12 engine gets fake noise pumped into the cabin to be honest. I was also surprised at the time(2014) that my F82 M4 has fake noise pumped in as well, but it definitely seems to be the norm nowadays in fairness on most ICE cars though. The GRY and the GR86 are on the fake pumped in noise train too for example.
I'm no fan of piped sound and completely fake is grim but I do think that when we talk about engine noise we are really getting off on the exhaust note a lot of the time. That and the vibration/feel of an engine. Nothing like an engine that rocks the car from side to side when you rev it.

Maybe cars are so refined and sound proofed now that you can't actually hear the engine like one would have in the past. So they make these fake sounds to replace what was taken for granted before. I suppose if you don't want to drive around with the exhaust valves open but still want to hear the 'engine', that's the chosen solution.

Yes and I loved my old X5 4.8iS for that as well. I used to just sit on the drive in that with the door open and rev it, and that used to rock the car too. thumbup

Yes and I understand why they do it as you say, but I just see it as a bit of a shame in some ways though. My Cerbera was all about the engine/exhaust noise for example, but I guess that if you're using a performance car as a daily, then you probably don't really want the car shouting at you all the time though?

My missus likes the fact that my F82 M4 has a really quiet exhaust on it as standard for example, whereas for me personally I'd like it to shout a bit more in comparison though. I'm an attention seeker though, whereas she isn't in comparison to me in fairness.

I am the target market - I bought the last shape Vanquish S Ultimate Coupe brand new in 2018.

Trouble is I've now retired, so £400k isn't going to happen.

Would I buy it, if I were still working and bringing in the big bucks? Not sure. My Vanquish (I traded down to a Vanquish Volante last year, as I thought I'd use it more) ticks all my boxes and I think it is better looking - the best looking modern Aston. The extra power isn't really needed, if I'm honest.

If I were in billionaire territory, then I'd have a Volante version for sure.

Loved the Aston, but when Harry said it was £400k well that's about £300k too rich for me, unless I win the Euromillions (in which case I'm slapping an order in immediately).

The new Vanquish is a nice looking car, but I think I'd have the 12cilindri personally... I still see the Aston Martin brand as a bit 'old man'.

I saw the 12cilindri down at Premier GT when I took my McLaren down there, and its a lovely looking car in the flesh. The Daytona-esque front end makes me all fuzzy.

My 335D has an active sound device. I know that some of the engine sound I hear does not exist. I have come to agree with Cypher.

I'm always surprised the gulf between Aston interiors and exteriors. They create so many beautiful cars from the outside, and yet almost every interior is at best mediocre.

Induction noise is often better than the exhaust I find.

I loved the induction noise in the V8 M3 that I had too. thumbup

You couldn't hear the exhaust as standard at all though, and I remember being stood behind it idling, and I said to the salesman..."why is it so bloody quiet?!". I'd personally like a V8 to make some noise to be honest.

The rot has completely set in now though to be fair, with us all being shoved into EVs now, so I guess the M3 was just preparing me for that really I reckon. hehe
